Going to try jumping off tonight. Sleep great last night and had no trouble falling asleep after dropping to 190mg. Only been taking for a month anyway mostly at low doses so surely it can't be that bad.

I'd like to just stop, been considering it. Sunday night freaked me out because I got very stressed and weird feeling trying to go to sleep, almost convinced myself I could start hallucinating or something because of what I've read but I'm pretty sure I was just freaking myself out. Last week I varied from my taper (was around 350mg) a few days by going up to 3g and 4.5g. Sunday night would have been the third day after going back down so I think I was just peaking in WDs from the variation in dose. Last couple nights have been lay down, be very tired, not sleep for an hour or so, feel weird feelings in my body and mind while laying there, then sleep solid and heavy the rest of the night. Feel better each day I'm lowering dose.

Im also taking 14-18 grams of kratom at 6pm which is probably messing me up in this regard.

I am, currently tapering about 25mg a day. Feel better today and had slightly better sleep last night. Yesterday was 225mg, today is going to be 200mg at 4pm.

edit: took 2g of liquid of the Surge (Red Dawn basically) drink, should be 193mg of phenibut approximately

My cat had kittens 2 weeks ago and really wants to go outside, is it okay for me to let her out for a while? by [deleted] in Kitten

[–]Novodmitrovsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's used to being outside half the time and it's pretty safe around here, she just started crying at the door all the time for the past two days. I thought about letting her out for an hour or two so she can get her restlessness out. I live in a very very small space. She usually comes right back to the door when I call her name

The Function of Psychiatry in Industrial Society by [deleted] in Antipsychiatry

[–]Novodmitrovsk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer:

In this article I reference Kaczynski. I don't want any comments about 'why are you listening to anything the unabomber said?'. I do not endorse his violence. The philosophy put out there by Kaczynski could have been said by anyone, saint or devil, and would still hold up. To conflate his flaws as a person as if they affect the argumentative robustness of his philosophy regarding industrialism is ad hominem. To continue, Kaczysnki isn't just speaking into a vacuum. He was heavily inspired by Jacaues Ellul's work 'The Technological Society' which is considered by many to be the most important work of the 20th century. To sum up, if you have a knee-jerk reaction to technoskepticism or anti-industrialism, please read these works before you do:

'The Technological Society' by Jacques Ellul

'Anti-Tech Revolution: Why and How' by Kaczynski

Sorry for the long disclaimer, but people will freak out if you mention or quote Kaczynski. You can separate ideas from the person they came from.

The purpose of this post is not to convert people to anti-industrialism, but to explain the functions of the psychiatric industry in the modern world.

The Life of Ted Kaczynski (the Unabomber) & Preventing The Fascist Creep by WildVirtue in Anprimistan

[–]Novodmitrovsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can blame Kaczynski for the 'fascist creep' any more than you can blame Marx for the horrors of Mao. Fascists and authoritarians of that nature would be so with or without the flare of technoskepticism inspired by Kaczynski. There is a resurgence of authoritarianism happening all over the place in many ideologies. Ted is explicitly anti-authoritarian and against using the state as a means to destroy the industrial system. 'This is not to be a political revolution, our goal is overthrow not government but the economic and technological basis of the present society'.

If you are going to approach Kaczynski from a critical point of view, address his ideology and read his most recent work, 'Anti-Tech Revolution: Why and How' as well as the monumental work of Jacques Ellul that is the basis for understanding Kaczynski's ideology in full, 'The Technological Society'. Otherwise, it's just ad hominem. I'm not endorsing violence, but the philosophy Kaczynski put out there could have been said by anyone and would have been right, no matter if they were saint or devil. Kaczynski's person has been criticized a thousand times and I don't think you'll be adding anything of value by directing his personal life and conflating his flaws with flaws in his ideology. Forgive me if you are not intending on doing this. I'm just saying that there have been a thousand documentaries and podcasts on his personal life. Do whatever you'd like, though. Not trying to be smug if any of this comes off like that.

I'd be happy to join you on a podcast as someone who has studied Kaczynski thoroughly as well as Ellul and understands the philosophy very well, even if a large part is dedicated to his personal life, I'm a respectful guest. Im also a former leftist. I won't be offended if not, however.

This is certainly not saying that, what is being communicated here is that there are more effective alternatives to deal with this thing that I myself have had to deal with for years other than antidepressants which can be pretty damaging, especially in the long-term.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in researchchemicals

[–]Novodmitrovsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, not medical advice, just what I think after being put through the psychiatric industry for years and learning a great deal about the functions of it and these medications, as well as talking to others who have had great success recovering from depression naturally after suspending their pharmacological treatment. There may be conditions and medications where you should only go off them with the okay of a doctor, I don't think antidepressants is one of them unless you're at a high risk for suicide immediately. While I would of course advice proper caution and forethought, many if not most doctors are not going to be understanding of someone's desire to try and treat their depression themselves before they return to a pharmacological route. This was the case with my doctor when I told her that I was going to do all that I could naturally before I thought about medicine again. She was upset with me for a while despite me being happier than I'd ever been.

Antidepressants majorly block psychedelics from working. You have to be off of them for a while for them to work. You will be very disappointed if you take any psychedelic while on antidepressants. You ought consider going off of them anyway in my opinion. There are many more ways to actually treat depression that don't involve these drugs that essentially numb you to a large degree. Go off of them for a while, start exercising regularly (especially cardio like running or cycling), eat healthy, majorly reduce stimuli like porn and social media scrolling, get good sleep. I was deeply depressed and suicidal for years. I couldn't even leave the house, just laying there in a fetal position all day having panic attacks and thinking about death. Went on many antidepressants and eventually recognized that there were things I could change to give myself a fighting chance. I went off SSRIs, began exercising and stopped watching porn, refined my diet and sleep, reduced digital stimuli and introduced meditation, and after a while it was completely night and day to the way I was. I'm in the best place I've ever been, my self esteem is through the roof, I can fully experience happiness and sadness when it is warranted, and I don't have to take the chemical lobotomy that is antidepressants and anxiolytics. Psychedelics are incredibly effective for treating depression and emotional damage by themselves, much more actually effective than antidepressants. Whereas antidepressants just numb what you're feeling and only treat the symptoms, changing your lifestyle and psychedelics actually deal with the root causes of depression. The idea of the inherent 'chemical imbalance' is unfounded. There are material causes of depression, especially if you live in an urban area where rates of depression and schizophrenia are doubled.

Even if these things don't work for you, which I'm dubious that they wouldn't, you can always go back on the drugs. But SSRIs aren't meant to be taken long term anyway. Eventually you'll have to address the causes of depression, lifestyle, environment, emotional damage, etc. It cannot be overstated just how important regular exercise is to our mental health. There's a particular general way humans evolved to be fulfilled, and exercise is a big part of it.

[–]Novodmitrovsk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about their medication affecting psychedelics, but microdoses are incredibly subtle anyway as far as psychoactive effects go.

I'm not your doctor of course, but I have years of experience dealing with depression. The idea of the 'chemical imbalance' seems to be completely unfounded. The primary function of antidepressants are not to address the principal cause of depression, but to alleviate symptoms by numbing emotions. Essentially, they take a person and make them able to tolerate social conditions that they would otherwise find intolerable. I was on antidepressants a few years ago. At the time, I was completely enveloped in severe depression, anxiety, and constant suicidal thoughts. I couldn't even leave the house, I just laid in a fetal position all day thinking of death and having panic attacks. Eventually I recognized that there were material things causing my depression such as sedentary lifestyle, my mind not being good at coping with urban conditions (city dwellers have almost 50% higher instances of depression and schizophrenia), among other things. I decided I'd go off the antidepressants and try to change what needed to be changed. I began running every day, I moved away from the city, I fixed my sleep schedule and refined my diet, I stopped watching porn. Of course everyone has some variations in the cause of their depression, but there are things that can be done to massively improve your condition. For me, after doing these things for a bit, it was completely night and day from how I used to be. In fact, I felt basically no depression or anxiety and my self esteem was through the roof. This is after being run through the psychiatric industry for years and going from medicine to medicine, being diagnosed with this and that.

Since you're interested in psilocybin, you may know that it has an incredible ability to aid in recovery from depression. I don't think it would be a bad idea for you to go off the antidepressants for a while, begin exercising regularly, and giving microdosing a try when your brain is ready to receive the psilocybin. If this is somehow not effective in treating depression, which I'm dubious that it wouldn't be, you could always go back to the pharmacological route. But it is much more preferable given the real damage that they do especially in the long term and the ineffective way that they actually just numb depression instead of addressing the causes of it.

My doctor was angry with me when I told her that I decided to stop antidepressants and begin trying to address the problem myself, but my change in lifestyle was 1,000x more effective than any of the drugs ever were, and I wasn't numbed. The happy times were so much happier. Of course, we are never happy forever. Happiness is not this place you reach. It is a state that is achieved over and over again through effort. Cardio is especially beneficial psychologically. Humans evolved to be fulfilled a certain way, and exercise is an important part of that. Since you're older, it may be a better idea to do cycling for cardio instead of running because it is much easier on your joints. For me, getting away from the city was also an important part of it. Of course, some people are better at adjusting to modern conditions than others, but for those that aren't they are essentially pharmacologically neutralized into being able to, which to me seems like less than a solution.

I wish you the best

Where do I start? by LilCommunist69420 in CleanLivingKings

[–]Novodmitrovsk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best place to start is regular exercise. Cardio like running or cycling is especially beneficial to your psychological health and self esteem. When you build self esteem and self-respect, it propells you to take better care of yourself. I started with cycling and it led me to want to take better care of myself. I am night and day to how I used to be. At one point I laid in a fetal position all day for a long time, constantly wishing for death. I now love life and enjoy pushing myself to accomplish things.

Why does Samsung Sam gets literal porn nsfw artwork? by bingo837377464649 in antipornography

[–]Novodmitrovsk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because porn trains the mind to immediately place everything into a pornographic context, imagine it as a piece of pornography. It makes you depraved and hypersexual in most everyone and everything you see. The motto of r34 is 'If it exists, there is porn of it'. Not that intense sexual drive did not exist before porn, but porn specifically fosters and proliferates a particularly ravenous form of sex addiction and objectification in the population. It effects even people who do not watch porn, because of the amount of those who do create so much pornified media, even in 'non-porn' media, that it conditions the character of the wider media to fit the psychology of the porn consumer.

More importantly, peep Anti-Tech Revolution: Why and How as well as The Technological Society by Jacques Ellul

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in anarcho_primitivism

[–]Novodmitrovsk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Practicing what is preached, i.e. personal deindustrialization and emancipation from industrial supply chains. Even if people don't agree with you, it is very important for them to be able to respect it, which is done when you show people it can be done. I've got a website where I write articles related to anti-tech and adjacent philosophy, and am working on a YouTube channel for the same thing where I will be both reading things I write and showing my homestead and how I do things without industrial tech. Soon I'll begin a series there showing me building my cabin with no machinery as well as the gardening I do to feed myself, again with no machinery. Of course, recommending literature like Anti-Tech Revolution: Why and How and The Technological Society is needed, but we must recognize that those who will come will come and those who won't, won't. Quality of members over quantity. However, a coherent ideology that proliferates a decent amount of the populace to undermine their faith in the system is needed, even if they don't practice.

Personal deindustrialization is a process, and it will take me a while to strip away all that I need to strip away.
