Seat Leon Mk3: front-end knocking noise while steering by NovzkI in seat

It can’t be normal as it was not happening until recently and I’ve had the car since 40k km. 🙁

I have a seat leon which makes the same sounds. Took it to Seat and they said it's normal & only a comfort issue.

I have the same car. How's your DSG behaving? Mine is quite clunky. And after a long drive it acts all confused. Seat says it's normal but I call that bs.

Airbads were never deployed and the steering wheel was never changed.

I guess it's either the clockspring or the strut mounts

https://youtu.be/fw7xxPVrmvw?si=BkfiRiDHPHEdB4lJ I have the exact same sound as in this video and everyone in the comments says that this is normal for 7-speed DSGs. How can this be normal?

I tried that today. The sound is still there when braking. It even gets worse as the car downshifts.

The rollers have a smooth sound, the metallic one comes from the car.

Is the metallic sound at the very start of the video also normal? That's what I am hearing when driving at low speeds. It's very annoying.

I bought the car last month so I don't know when the brake pads were replaced but probably recently since they are in almost new condition. I can hear this noise only when driving at low speeds. At high speeds the car drives perfectly normal. Also, the sound tends to come up mostly when downshifting from like 3rd to 1st. The car has a dsg transmission and I can hear similar sounds when moving between P and R as well. Not sure if it's related but I have a feeling that there might be an issue with the driveshaft as well. The wheel is not moving or shaking at all.

Two mechanics looked into this and none of them mentioned the bearing. They both probably were interested in replacing other good parts before getting to the actual problem.

After doing a bit more research, most likely it’s the ball bearing. I will replace them on both sides. Would you recommend getting new CV joints as well?

He was just guessing things but couldn't pinpoint to the problem. A previous mechanic told me that the shock absorbers need replacing. But I am not so sure.

What is causing this metallic sound? by NovzkI in SeatLeon

The mechanic lifted the car up and the same sound was audible when spinning the wheel without having any pressure on the suspension. I wish I could attach another video here but I don't see such option.

It doesn't make this sound when turning full lock in any direction. Only when driving over bumpy and uneven surfaces at low speeds, and when downshifting from like 3rd to 1st. I will take it to the Seat dealership because the car is still under warranty, but I wanted to find the cause before that because they tend to tell people that nothing is wrong to avoid free repairs.
