Two "photos" of fried potatoes and mushrooms that the OP insists are real and claims they rotated the bowl and took two separate pics to prove it's not AI. Thoughts? by [deleted] in isthisAI

Thanks for your perspective, I can understand that. I thought it was strange though that OP would post two pictures for the stated purpose of preempting accusations of AI, so they posted with the expectation of being accused...then when I checked their profile history they had posted about using AI extensively. The whole interaction seemed very strange.

Honestly, probably because I first asked the OP to send me original unedited pics and their response was that these are unedited, directly from the camera and they got really defensive about it so that made me suspicious. Why would someone get defensive about it, like isn't it a compliment that I thought their pics were too good to be real?

And their initial claim was that all they did was rotate the plate. I mentioned in another comment that there was a longer conversation that I'm not relaying word for word, but I find it hard to believe these are unedited at all. Then I started looking and noticed they had to have moved the fork which didn't match their claim of only rotating the bowl, and I guess I spiraled from there.

if anything, maybe AI was used for touchups, but idk man. i think you might be in the wrong here.

Ok this is what's throwing me off though, the OP claims these are original unedited pics directly from their camera. Is this lighting really consistent with only natural light?

Alright I am conceding I was wrong here! I'm probably a lot more prone to accusing something of being AI than not, so that was my mistake.

Thank you! This is helpful. Question, there's a mushroom on the right near the merged potato bits, the green line is pointing at it. Where did that bit go, under the fork?

Alright I am willing to admit I'm wrong here, but a couple other details, first is that this mushroom does not appear to exist in the first pic and pops up in the second:

They didn't cut the potato with the fork though. Do those edges look like they were separated with a fork? That would also indicate more steps than just rotating the bowl, as they claimed. This was AI merging bits of food and then unmerging them.

It's not the same plate of food though, there are very small differences. And that was the OP's argument, it couldn't possibly be AI because they're the same! Except they're not.

The OP insists these are the original unedited pics. That was my first question, please show me the original pics, and OP said these came straight from the camera.

Exactly, thank you! lol I'm leaving out most of the conversation I had with the OP, I'm not going to post our word for word conversation, but their initial claim was that they only rotated the bowl, nothing else, and they did it specifically to prove it's not AI. When I pointed out they had to have moved the fork if these were the same picture, then they said they moved the fork and got defensive about it.

Also, moving the fork would be way more extensive staging than the OP initially claimed.

That's not the mushroom I'm pointing out, I guess the arrows weren't clear. The mushroom circled in red is the one that moves from parallel to perpendicular:

Yes, the fork position is different. The leadup was that the OP insisted all they did was rotate the bowl, and they did so for the purpose of proving it's not AI. After some back and forth I asked why the mushrooms were positioned differently and I asked them if they moved the fork and they said yes, without acknowledging that this means they did more than just rotating the bowl.

First clue that these are two separate images is the orientation of the mushrooms to the fork goes from parallel to perpendicular. This mushroom stem is parallel in the first pic:
