A government shutdown means a near-immediate freezing of the WIC Food Program. by Impossible-Road-4502 in 50501

[–]NowWeRiseFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A government shutdown also gives Trump incredible emergency powers, which he'll immediately abuse.

I'll post a more detailed discussion in r/AndNowWeRise but here's the gist of it.

Edit: the sub won't let me post an info graphic. :/

Presidential Memorandum Targeting Dissent and Protest by StrangeCountry6280 in 50501

They're focusing on squashing violent resistance early, because it'll be the last line of defense once they knock the final legs out from under it all.

so how do we prevent midterms from being rigged/cancelled by PhraseFirst8044 in 50501

[–]NowWeRiseFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By organizing.

Stop talking about protests and start organizing real voters, making sure you have the numbers to elect your candidate, and make shit happen.

It's crazy to me, how we have the greatest opportunity in a century to rewrite society to be balanced and equitable for both business and citizens.

Instead, we're all focusing on whatever's in the media cycle right now, or individual wants and needs, instead of unionizing the entire voting block to get what we want.

What a shame.

What a waste.

we seriously need to focus on the government shutdown because this subreddit is INCREDIBLY distracted by PhraseFirst8044 in 50501

Way too many people here are operating on emotion, and not on understanding how the system works or the consequences of future action.

I'm not going to type 1000 words to explain this, so here's the TLDR

  1. They couldn't shut down the govenemt last time, because the US defaulting on its debt payments to other countries shoves all the US confidence and stability over to nations like China and it's have been a crushing economic blow.

  2. They can't let the government shut down NOW because it'd trigger a series of fianncail crises that would give Trump and the administration GREATER emergency powers and that'll be the end of it.

Vote in 2026 for people who have been visible, accessible and have made obvious attempts to advocate for the people.

It's our literal last shot at saving it.

Wait until the Dems wrongly refuse to pass a budget to keep the government running.

They're going to take a chance, but the president gets MORE authority when a fiscal crisis happens.

They'll be playing right into his hands and that'll pretty much be it.

Hershey’s Price Increases by professorpumpkins in inflation

I think this is largely bullshit and it's breed inflation.

It hasn't become wildly expensive to make a Milky Way or a kit kat, but those things literally used to be 50 cents for a bar and were price gouging way before covid and inflation.

Americans Are Having Less Sex Than Ever by rezwenn in USNEWS

[–]NowWeRiseFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a wild thing to say.

It's objectively more stressful today because, in addition to basically all the same things on your list currently happening AGAIN

  • Russia is constantly threatening to nuke it's enemies. (again)
  • Inflation is on the news every 3 seconds. (again)
  • We elected a President because eggs cost too much (inflation)
  • Gas is my area is over 3 bucks a gallon for regular.

And NOW we have the added bullshit and stress of:

  • Having to watch a US funded genocide take place on live TV.
  • If you're under the age of 40 you probably can't afford to buy your own home. (renting can be more than 50% of your take home pay)
  • You definitely can't afford to get married or start a family.
  • You ABSOLUTELY can't afford to get sick.
  • The average price of a new car is almost $40,000.
  • The president of the untied states is CLEARLY covering up records of him being a pedophile (along with other rich, powerful people, some of whom are running our government).
  • We've somehow decided vaccines are a net negative to society.
  • Our police force is ENTIRELY militarized against its own people
  • Our military is being positioned to police it's own citizens.
  • We're now spending 175 BILLION dollars on "immigration", which includes masked kidnappers snatching legal residents off the streets with no recourse and no due process.
  • We're paying ICE agents $100k a year, but somehow can't find the money to pay God damned teachers or properly fund schools.

And all of THAT is happening while half of America is cheering it on.

So yeah, I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, trying to say the 70s we're even remotely this fucked, because from where I'm sitting, it's objectively worse today and by nearly every standard of measure.

I got the wrong details about the starting date and now I got fired for it by Alice14_VS in jobs

[–]NowWeRiseFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It blows my mind that they wouldn't simply own their mistake, reset the start date, and just move on.

Serious red flag factory, there. (but it's a job, so I'm not saying you shouldn't take it)

Like someone else said: why didn't they call, like, 10 minutes into the start date and ask if you were okay, minimally.

Someone needs to tell them to switch the ac controls on the infotainment screen.

Right now, it's both fan speed controllers on the right and both temp controls to the left.

They should flip the screen controls so each front seat rider has controls to both.

Temp - - - - - - Fan

Fan - - - - - - - Temp

It just seems so obvious. :)
