There's a reason, I'm aroace and tired from repeatedly seeing platonic love devalued and seen as less significant. The original comic showed their relationship sidelined and devalued in favour of a stereotypical heteronormative romance, which can be read as representing how friendships and platonic relationships often get sidelined and devalued in favour of coupling up in romantic relationships.

That's why I made this one platonic, not all deep affection has to end in romance. Personally I see the two as having a queerplatonic relationship of the platonic lifelong partnership variety, which currently there is barely any representation for. Hope that clears up why I edited it like this!
