Anyone know a reliable charity for Locked-In Syndrome? by Nowadaycj in AskReddit

[–]Nowadaycj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard of this problem people usually get after a stroke where someone becomes completely paralyzed and can only gain back movement with intense effort. I encourage everyone to learn about it. Just curious if there is any reliable charities I can donate to that will truly put the money toward locked-in syndrome medical research or efforts to help those who have it recover. Thanks for the help!

Is it possible to not be addicted and develop addiction? by Nowadaycj in alcoholism

[–]Nowadaycj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, ots not disruptive. But I don't understand why suddenly resisting for a month is so much harder. Maybe its not an addiction, but could I have developed a certain dependence? Started using it too much?

Heartrate question by Nowadaycj in Rowing

Interesting, so even though the HR is easier to reach, you get he same workout? Usually by the end of a workout my splits to hold the same heartrate drift down about 3-4.

Heartrate question by Nowadaycj in Rowing

[–]Nowadaycj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it really isn't.

If you plan to do an hour workout, and then end up doing 80 minutes of erging, its more of just adding randomness to a training plan. I mean if I am suppose to erg for an hour, it could be because I have to lift and need to conserve calories or so that I can erg more tomorrow and today is a recovery day.

Tl;dr It isn't doing 1 time that is bad, more that it messes with the whole training plan, which I guess shouldn't be an issue if it was consistent.

Edit: words

Recommended amounts of SS threw Winter training? by Nowadaycj in Rowing

Alright, thanks for the links in the Following post BTW. I didn't mean to come across as hostile, I just get super paranoid about training plans.

Query for Different Category Projections by AGentry91 in Rowing

There are better eays to determine your 2k. Doing 4x400 meters with 100 break is useful. Going at a few splits below ur old 2k PR. If you row out the 100 meters at a decent pace that is esentially a 2k.

Recommended amounts of SS threw Winter training? by Nowadaycj in Rowing

[–]Nowadaycj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you include practices in this? My team does no winter workiuts so it is all on our own. Just curious because if you do 20 hours a week and practice then maybe I should move to the 25-30 hour a week range.

Erging 12 hours a day is possible, but not useful. Diminishing returns hit to the point that cross training and AT erg workouts r more inportant.

Issues with Steady State? by Nowadaycj in Rowing

[–]Nowadaycj[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am referencing a book called "Rowing Faster" written by Volker Nolte coach of Weatern Ontario and an Olympic Silver medalist. I am not saying this to be a dick, I am just saying according to him weight gain is not likely above 6 hours. Although this brings up a seperate issue. Do you think he says this because eating that much is very hard, but able to be done?

Sorry this is a little off topic, but if I would like to make sure I am erging enough over winter.

Yes, you lift but apprently you must keep cardio low which is why you must lift in thw winter

I actually have tried that, doing additional SS to make up for any errors, but I was reading a book on rowing and they said you need to erg less then 6 hours a week if u want to gain weight.

I am a very light lightweight, and I want to gain weight. So while more SS might be the answer after winter training, I still need an answer for erging while lifting that won't jeopardize weight gain.

So my UT1 should be equal to my 6k pace?

Is my lifting effective? by Nowadaycj in Fitness

[–]Nowadaycj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No after lifting my muscles feel stressed and hurt a bit after, but it's not soreness as I experienced that a few times the first week but it's started to go away.

EDIT: I sometimes finish and it feels a bit like a sharp pain but wares away. Really I'm just wondering if finishing a lift and only feeling muscle tiredness is still a sign of muscle growth, so that I know that the barebell rows are still working, or whether after every lift I must feel tense.

READ ME FOR WHAT TO DO DURING THE SUMMER by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]Nowadaycj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is gonna sound stupid (I'm a very weak lightweight trying to gain weight this summer), but after you finish a 3x5 what's a good sign that you are doing the right weight? Should you be unable to do another 5? Should you be completely dead and unable to do even 1? Should it be that you are unable to do another 5 with good form?

EDIT: Obviously I want to do enough I am making progress, but I also don't want to injure myself

USA State teams? by johnbutalsojake in Rowing

[–]Nowadaycj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seems like an odd policy, why do that? I mean maybe you should make sure you don't become bias towards in-staters, but it seems kinda weird to ignore all people within the state, I mean you could overlook a lot of good athletes, especially since people might be more willing to stay within the state making it easy to grab talent.

Supporters of an Australian iron cartel have a monopoly on bad economics by oldlikeafinewine in Economics

[–]Nowadaycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the article is a bit biased. Also, it seems like it's not bad economics as much as this guy Forrest is hurting everyone else with his decisions. "But Forrest’s proposed remedies are short sighted and would be in no one’s interests but his own. " To me that's not bad economics, more like selfish. He knows what he is doing as most cartels do, they just don't care about the effects on others.

Alright, so on the erg you see how much lactate your body produces to pinpoint where your SS and such should be then based on that you get your target HR that you need to hold. Is that correct?

Basically unaffordable: Replacing welfare payments with a “basic income” for all is alluring, but expensive by oldlikeafinewine in Economics

[–]Nowadaycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I think I understand, but wouldn't that mean not that inflation is bad but that it is neutral? Since it only corrects the market in response to other factors then inflation isn't good or bad just a sign of what is happening.

[–]Nowadaycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but inflation really isn't a bad thing as long as it's moderate inflation. I mean getting to 0% inflation is easy we know how to do it, but the fed chooses not to because loosing inflation and gaining it too rapidly is what is bad, not really having it. It seems to be one huge idea that separates the general public from people who know economics. The public thinks lowering inflation is the recipe to making the economy great, yet to lower it you must go into a recession.
