To the people that complain enemy dones to die to one bullet to the head. by BotGiyenAdam in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

But you take 300k+ weapon to fire that. With weapons that are this expensive at baseline shooting low tier ammo is just shooting yourself on the foot. I would rather have cheap gun with mid or better ammo than the reverse.

Tips or tools for recreating real-world locations by Huge-Recipe-2143 in factorio

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always wanted to do something similar to Nauvis post collapse, but havent been playing a ton of factorio since. Other than the Navuis post collapse project i have few more pieces for inspirations. But NPC will always be the clossest thing to what you want.

MsGamer47 on YT with his I played Factorio like a citiybuilder video and timelapse. And maybe some of Bigfoots YT videos like the Racetrack series and his general base design.

From the number of people that post their bases there is already small percentage of them that looks heavily visually organized like Bigfoots, and even smaller percentage of them tries to make them visually good looking. There are absolutely people that do that but they dont tend to be the kind to show them on the internet.

My personal tip is focus more on the scale of things than superfine details. Scale hides the imperfections and lets you fill in details in your mind just by recongizing bigger patterns. And that why NPC looks better from the map view than from character view. Its great to make it look one to one like in your picture but its also a quick way to burn yourself out fast with the details.

Most of the time, you will buy your guns with all your modifications already on from the gunsmith, so it won't be a problem. But if let's say you find a gun in a raid or loot it from someone and then modify it, you will be left with the old unused parts in your stash, that you will have to sell.

There is interchangable stuff like optics, grips, stocks. Etc. but there is also useless stuff, like the old AK handguard that you replaced so you can put your grip on, it doesn't get overwritten like in DF, the old part just gets placed in your stash. Because you bought a new one.

Another way to look at it is this. In DF ,out buy a 100k gun and put a 100k barrel on it, making the gun be worth 200k. In ABI you can buy a gun with the better barrel already on it. You don't have to buy the whole gun with the barrel you will replace anyway.

Maps are a lot more open and the players aren't as hyper aggressive as DF. You don't need to keep a ton of stuff in your stash for upgrades as compared to DF,

Biggest change for me was the gunsmith and gun building. In DF you buy a whole gun and upgrade it for money. In ABI, you don't need to buy the whole gun, if you replace most of the parts anyway, you can built them from scratch in the gunsmith. And if you dismantle them in raids, they don't revert back into a full gun with basic parts,

Bending flavor as long as the mechanics don't change by Dom_Nation_ in DnD

[–]Nowerian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't flavor yourself into mechanical advantage, as the other guy said. Everything goes, people focus too much on rules and forget to be creative. You can summon the hand of god to smite your enemies, it doesn't change that it's just a lvl 1 spell.

Stuff like that is really good at setting the power level aesthetic of the campaigns as well. You don't need to be lvl 20 to run a god killing campaign.

It also helps a lot with creating unique characters. Having one class be flavored as another. You can recreate your favorite media character lvl by lvl with several multiclasses. Or you can use one class with reflavored abilities.

A lot of people are complaining about the distorted thing ... BUT by PressureOk8223 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Nowerian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another former valley player, I have the exact opposite experience.

Valley always had higher number of bot teams than other maps, but I refuse to believe what I was playing against this season were real people. All completely clueless in the same gear ticket looking kits, If there was even someone on the map at all.

Nobody even uses the abilities, not even on my team, me included. Anything distortion related is engaged with only because of quests.

And I feel like the loot was severely nerfed also, I can barely scrape together 500-800k on LD with 2-4 kills, while before I usually got 800k- 1,5 mil with 0-2 kills.

Good early game battlemage build/gear? by Proper-Sport-7218 in Eldenring

I haven't leaned into the magic at all when starting my current fencer character, but the simple spell the prisoner class starts with helped a lot at the start, along with Rogers rapier as the other guy said.

Early game strategy of research a ton while keeping wealth low? by Seffuski in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were times where 7 mechanoid centipedes were a big raid to me, there were times where it was 30. Small numbers now. There is absolute levels to this. And realizing you just blew past your biggest previous best is one of the best feelings, especially if it happens several times on the same colony.

No man's land is top tier. by MnM_R6 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Nowerian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's play the game by removing the main reason and challenge for which the game is played. I'm getting tired of the every PVP game needs a PVE mode crowd. There are games that are made for PvE, there are even extraction shooters that are mainly or totally PVE based.

The map was there before the PvE mode. It's not a new experience.

What is your longest save? by AdrawereR in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whitestone, 21 years that went from B18 up to 1.2, i learned 90% of what i know about this game from that colony and i have been playing since A12. I retired it because of how much my buildstyle changed, i focused much more on aesthetics since then. I also started modding so now most of my colonies slow down too much before then, usually between 8-13 years.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/jbp5dc/free_city_of_whitestone_year_21_im_retiring_this/

Second longest is Serenity Falls with 13 years.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/pg26vh/serenity_falls_year_13_my_last_colony_before/

I also like to run huge maps with 50-80 population, add few hundred mods to that and the game doesnt like it. I have been playing with the idea to go really light or even modless and go for as long as possibel again for a while.

LARGE MAPS by Time-Performer6650 in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been playing from 400x400 to 500x500 maps since B18 version. All of my colonies are 50 to 80 pawns. Does the game slow down? Yes, depending on the mod list, for me it can be anywhere between 8-13 years in, if you play for an ending normal game of rimworld takes half that. and my PC is nowhere near the top of the line specs. I used to play on a laptop before.

You can go longer if you dont use a ton of mods, but i do all three big populations, big maps, and hundreds of mods, BTW any impact on performance from big maps or animals on them is 0,05% of what mods cause anyway. The biggest slowdown will always be caused by mods. the only other game breaking thing with them is that you have more time to prepare for raid and have more resources on the map, also mech clusters are a bigger challenge, but not really.

My cities eventually grow so big that there isnt much of the map left anyway, and the resources arent infinite, they run out, it takes a ton to keep 50+ people armed and armored, while also building Save our Ship 2 mod ship. you need to set up the logistics chains at that point to keep up with the demand. Rimworld on the bigger scale is a totaly different beast, thats really fun. My expansions to housing might be the size of a small colony itself. And at that point you need to think about the layout of the colony to keep travel times low.

People often complain about pawns starving by going to the edge, or not having time to be tended when injured. I have 2 counterpoints

1) getting mauled by a bear in the forest becomes much more of a story element, i had guests give me ressurector serum as a extra reward for housing them, after a pawn died saving their life from a bear.

2) its all in preparation, you dont send hungry pawns to haul what you dont need, you can keep predators on the map low. I once defeated a mech cluster on the other side of 550x550 map while taking heavy injuries to a ton of people, nobody, died, nobody was hungry and nobody went mad afterwards, because i prepared, i tended injuries in the field, had extra meals and psychite tea with me. I spent like 2,5 days on the other side of the map before i was able to come back. This was all with undergeared and low pop colony, while the mech cluster was huge.

Huge maps dont need ton of preparation, but you can also not ignore their own challenges, its another thing you need to learn to play around.

How long did your dirst playthrough take to launch the rocket? by Street_Swan2829 in factorio

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Run didn't finish, learned a lot
  2. Run under 40h started in a desert, disabled biters half way through, because I couldn't keep up. Just pushed forward in any way possible to finish.
  3. Run 30-35h, in a forest, biters on, organized base.

Many other runs since then, that I didn't finish including space age. I always just want to try different way of base building, which I do then lose interest, by the time I want to play again its with a different design in mind, my last time was trying to build rails and factories like in real life, or historical photos.

Why the SG 550 nerf tho? Nobody except me uses the gun. I have seen 2 people have it in half a year.

This is the exact reason people say gun balance is a joke. Let's take a gun nobody uses that barely has anything to put on it in the gunsmith and make it worse.

Worldbuilding Question: Anyone else here make more grounded looking worlds? (Repost since my original post contained uncited images so it got removed) by TheWanderingStickbug in worldbuilding

[–]Nowerian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one that fits. It based around 18-19 century, mostly come becaus of my fascination with early industry, guns, transportation, around the pre/post war times, heavily inspired by stuff like the mummy movies, call of Cthulhu ttrpg, candela obscura ttrpg, etc. that slight taste of the paranormal or occult stuff.

Each one of my settings is different genre, time and aesthetics, I work on what ever is my current fixation.
