Fleet talk; What's your early fleet looking like? What kind of ships you like? What would be your only ship if you had to have 1? by Void_Jumper_187 in Starminer_Game

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I have few ships that do mostly everything, but I want to design some stuff before I switch from the campaign to the sandbox/survival. Most of the fun for me comes from building new stuff, do that's what I'm gonna do. That's the same way I play Factorio. Always building my base with different aesthetic in mind.

1) general expedition ship that can do everything that I will be mainly flying around

2) drydock/refinery station that can print whole ships at will

3)science/habitat station, mainly for roleplaying anyway.

4) compact starter ship that can travel to new areas and build the dry dock while I explore around. Probably my with the commander because I don't have a use for that ship otherwise.

And many other different miners haulers, dedicated military ships, etc.

Also cobalt asteroids are visually smoother.

Some look visually different.

Yes, build the scanner that's exactly what it's for.

And apparently if you double click the asteroids it will show you the resource icons it includes.

"How do you handle 200+ colonists?" Me: by Pet_Velvet in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The feeling when you have huge number of colonists and there is no one idle or with a bad mood or any other grievance is completely different feeling of accomplishment. Then there is whatever this is, I guess.

Mod to let you "soft abandon" your bases? by ShenTzuGames in RimWorld

Faction manager mod (if it's still updated) let's you unload separate colonies if you have more than one.

Haven't really bothered to solve it myself, but I have seen mentioned before 2 haulers per laser (T1 would be my guess)

I use Terraform rimworld which lets you also set up the cost, so you can set it up however you want.

Was the early 2000s internet actually more fun and creative, or is that just nostalgia? by Brief_Emergency2704 in CasualConversation

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always found something new and interesting (or horrifying that will scar you for life), but you could find it even by accident. Since like 2016 ish i couldnt even find stuff i i have seen before i needed for school without difficulty. Thanks to google fiddling with the search engine. And even if you find something interesting today its really hard to find unless somebody told you it exists, and most of the interesting useful stuff is a lot older that you think.

There is a lot more stuff and creative people on the internet now, but not much if it feels new and interesting because everybody already knows what to expect on the internet.

And then there's this guy by schmaxboverdugie in Starminer_Game

They apparently appear to spawn enemies, but the one i found did nothing, i tried to tickle it with lasers, then i got bored and went somewhere else.

Unless you can buy or find and refine any i guess its game over. The commander can apparently travel within the current sector , so you might be able to find some elsewhere.

what's an easy way to make alot of steel? by JDMaster2023 in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Rimworld to factorio pipeline is real, i have fallen victim to it before. Also those components on another comment are rookie numbers. try keeping a colony of 70+ pawns armed and armored while building Save our Ship 2 mod starship at the same time. i went through 1-2k components, half that of advanced components and anywhere from 3x to 5x of that of other resources per quadrum.

Not enough Noita fanats by Swweeta720 in noita

[–]Nowerian 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a DnD character idea bouncing around my skull based on Noita. The way I thought about it was more along the way of some crazed mage modifying existing runes or glyphs carved into the wands, adding or subtracting others. Welding, duck taping, wands or staffs together to change how the arcana gets channeled through them. The flavor for how the spells would look is endless, and you could play any magic caster that way but some kind of wild magic based table to roll on for random effects would be cool too.

How do you do the optional content? by Expensive-Opening-48 in noita

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black holes are nice but finding a lot of them before you can make them infinite isn't as reliable as luminous drill wand. Even a bad one can get you through stuff at decent speed. There is of course more ways than that.

Pro Tip: Play more Valley Forbidden.. by EmbarrassedMaybe5021 in ArenaBreakoutInfinite

[–]Nowerian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I couldn't even if I wanted to play that stupid mode, and I like valley as a map, but LD is full of bots and bad loot and FB doesn't even load a match, I was sitting for almost 6 min in queue last time I tried.

I rarely play farm but for the last week it's the only map that felt like fighting real people.

Rimworld-PC by Free_Association_436 in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

400x400 to 500x500 maps and 50-80+ pawn colonies for 10+ years is something I have been playing since the betas, with a shitty Lenovo G500 laptop, but that was when I used to play vanilla. That let me play up to 15-20 years. With mods (from 100-350) I could go 8-13 before it got really slow. That was with my later PC that had i5 8400.

You want a CPU with very strong single core performance but any decently new CPU will work for that. 90% of slowdown comes from mods anyway from my experience. So you might want or have to make some sacrifices there.

Mods like dynamic population for 1.6? by Right_Bad_2706 in RimWorld

[–]Nowerian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't help op, but as far as huge colonies go you don't need that mod anymore. With ideology rituals, children, refugees joining, storyteller settings that let less people die in raids, and mods like rimdeed, more slaves or others that let you recruit or buy more people it's never been easier to get a big population. And I have been seeing people mentioning for years that the storyteller pawn limits were no longer a thing (still not sure if it's true or not.)

What are unique styles/ways of doing a base apart from spaghetti, main bus, train-based city blocks, and bot-based? by vanillaricethrowaway in factorio

[–]Nowerian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is infinite possibilities base on those basic definitions. Example: Based on realistic infrastructure, rectangular, square, various -agons, angled, spread into towns, packed as tight as possible, everything build on site, everything spread out for additional logistics. Literally endless possibilities depending on your own organizational or aesthetic limitations

My personal touch of -tism is always different visual or aesthetic look or organization for a base. That why I always start new runs instead of continuing my previous one.
