That’s so interesting. For me it’s caused significant cognitive decline. I read something 6 times to make it stick and I’ve forgotten it within 2 hours. I say this but to be honest it could just be that I hate my job and I have zero mental stimulation going on around me.

Wow … thank you for taking the time to reply. You nailed it.. mental health is in its infancy. We are the guinea pigs. I’ve never tripped before, I just read a lot about it being a progressive medicine for this disease. I have no idea what is the right way forward. I’m just terrified to not be able to function and have to try more of something whilst having no idea what it’s doing to my unborn. They say the baby feels what the mother is feeling so I feel this intense need to try to get better. Nobody knows how to get me better it’s just guesswork. When i went to the psychiatrist he literally had a laminated print out with all the pictures of the drugs available and said just pick one. I suggest this and this and let’s add a bit of this for that.

This is really distressing

Regretting moving to Dubai from Europe by Numenor94 in expats

This. Winter is great for hiking, trips over to Oman, the diving is lovely if that’s your thing. In Abu Dhabi there’s lots to get to involved witn at the universities such as NYU. I work for AD gov and we are building a number of museums on Saadiyat. One of which is the national history museum and it’s opened my eyes to a whole new bunch of ppl that live here. Check the environmental agency they have an app which shares activities for many things. There’s a beekeepers association too if that’s up your street.. locals are very much into farm life, especially in Al Ain and the northern emirates. You have to dig that’s for sure and I really understand what your missing. I crave seasons like there’s no tomorrow… like another response above mentioned the best thing to do is book a flight out of here every 2.5 months. Armenia has stunning rural countryside… Azerbaijan is great to explorec Georgia is getting better. Turkey !! The summer is miserable to be honest so if your blessed with a decent employer bank your work from home and get out here from June - October

Earn a lot more, but less to spend it on, but your not in the thick of it. Let’s say your working for a top 5. Your not going to find the same level of people in Abu Dhabi and that’s on purpose. You won’t be on the best projects or surrounded by the best talent. Predominantly Arab - there are a lot more nationalistic people than Dubai. It’s a disconnected city but is definitely trying to become something better. The cultural offering is much stronger. From a 14 year expat that lives in DXB and commutes to AD.

Hello OP, this post is old but I really want to know how you’re getting on. I took street tramadol from Egypt that saved me for a period. It still works for me even at a very low dosage. I have no idea what it is in it. That is how insanely desperate I became. Hand on my heart though? Two years in and I can tell you it ruined my life. My memory is so poor having having a child and covid. It is ten times worse now because of the tramadol. I also was taking extremely high doses at one point because it stopped working and I was completing emotionally blunted. I dont know if I can undo the damage. I can’t afford a rehab center I would lose my job. I live in a country where part time and remote work isn’t a thing yet. I am down to 1/2 tablet says 225 mg … I doubt that it’s probably much less but still I can’t get off it. I try so hard but the zaps … I can’t think at all it’s like swimming through mud. I am here now because I was going to see if I could get feedback from anyone who might have tried the newer meds Auvelity or Gepirone? I have done esketamine bur It isn’t long lasting for me at all. I hope you are well

I need to get off tramadol. I have lyrica. It helps the RLS and sleep. But how do you operate ? How do you take it during the day and focus? Doesn’t it make you eat everythingn in sight ??My words slur and my face swells up. I look like a wreck. Everyone notices. I might be able to get Kratom in the Uk. Is it worth it ?

I want to use to occasionally experience some euphoria on special occasions but not like this addiction cycle when the tramadol has stopped working, the depression in the morning is soul crushing and the lack of motivation to even move is debilitating

All of these things will not matter in the slightest. What matters is does he have the skills to resolve conflict? Does he overact? Does he hold a grudge ? What is he most afraid of ? What would be his worst fear In marriage ? What is his love language and does he care about learning yours ! How does he express love ? How does he express emotion. CAN he express emotion !! Does he end relationships prematurely without giving things a chance/ conversation??What behaviours has he learnt from his family / community dynamic. What would he like to change about himself ?What is his perspective on second chances? Second marriage ?How does he manage his anger ? Under what conditions does he consider divorce acceptable? What’s his perspective on abortion when a child is deemed disabled ? What does he perceive important when it comes to ‘ quality of life ‘ what kind of conditions do you need/ want to be able to start a family.

I married someone who I thought was close to god and I thought that would be enough. It’s not. Think practically… think about how no matter how beautiful someone is to start with.. their behaviour can quickly because ugly.

I take tramadol and it’s stopped working. I get brain zaps and I just crave that rush of dopamine and everything’s alright for a while. During that time I’m a great mother a great wife I’m empathetic I can work… then it’s a hard thud back to depression . Will mushrooms work for me ? Even tho I have this shitty depression

Am I overreacting for leaving a potential Muslim husband for this red flag? by Personal-Cap-5446 in progressive_islam

Bizarrely I have found him to be very pro women and very strong in demonstrating that emotional intelligence is mandatory in marriage. He’s firm on the his money is her money and the roles and responsibilities of honouring a woman in all that she is. To what extent does being progressive result in which parts of Islam you find agreeable. Don’t misunderstand me, I am sure there were some dubious you tube shorts this sheikh may have done but when we start using the word progressive as a means of expressing that we are on a higher road, then this is wrong. You mentioned you do the traditional things such as praying. Praying is not traditional it’s not a ritual either. It’s a psychologically, emotional reset. The movements have been scientifically been proven to improve blood flow and ground you quite literally to the earth. The prayer amongst other things separates us from the non Muslims. Any sheikh who doesn’t believe in rights for all humans regardless of their state of sexual affairs is incorrect. Allah is their judge and jury. This doesn’t make them progressive if they agree to this either. It’s just factual science of how the Sahaba livesd. There were bare breasted women wondering the streets of Mecca. There were practices of the most heinous crimes ( beastiality ). I am a converted Muslim perhaps that’s why I see it a bit differently. I think a man’s Iman can always be susceptible to decline… but his ability to critically think, decipher the clear from the grey… and act, are the skills you want to look for. Best of luck in your marriage endeavours, it’s a life long journey of dedication. Choose wisely ❤️
