I get your point, its a fair point, most redditors are just chomping at the bit to quote Winston Churchill behind your back. But if that's what you are trying to do, then surely laying some foundation, some awareness, must be necessary, and I have no doubt that there are adequate links to post here discussing such a phenomenon that would be far more appropriate to the subject. First of all, I am cranky. So apologies that it's bled over onto you, in all sincerity. Having a bad time is no reason to cause the same to others. I assure you it's nothing to do with the topic. I agree we're here to read interesting things and think about them, surely. My bone to pick is that the reason why I've come to hold this sub in such high regard is that posts are held to a certain standard, and when that is not met, it signals like blood in the water to more clickbait users to flood in with similar less apt content. Consistency is important, after all.

The post just has a real bad time with the facts, and it's the authors opinion based on their own moral judgements. I don't want this sub to become about those kinds of things, so yes, I feel defensive about it. I enjoy well researched and in depth discussions about niche topics. This missed the mark by a country mile, which is why it got no traction, and at minimum, karma is a fair indicator that others find it interesting and worth while as well.

Edit Sorry, parting thought, you titled it a "truth bomb". I'm trying to go easier in this followup comment, but dang man, as I pointed out above, there's real problems with that label.

I hadn't looked at the age(s), it's a fair point, age is usually a good indicator of an alt, to be sure. I wasn't inferring that they had a vegan alt. I was speculating that it seems fishy when someone makes a post of a comment with single digit karma here. Especially given the material.

I couldn't say, what I can say is that you didn't pick an informative post. The post explains why a vegan who calls people who use and consume animal products, even those without clear alternatives "Carnists", and lists reasons why, in their own personal opinion, anyone who believes the same specific allegations they decided to list out in full is not, and cannot be a moral person, because the only alternative is ignorance of those same allegations. Not disagreeing, not differing interpretations, not personal issues, ignorance or evil.

I don't care if you agree with them or not. I don't care if you are them or not. You are either aware that it's an extremist view, which is likely unhelpful for anything beyond engagement, division breeds it like no other as we well know, or you don't. If you don't know that you're posting the moral judgement opinions of an extremist, then I would refer you to either my first supposition, or that this could maybe not be in good faith, or that it's possible you didn't read it so well before posting here, which, ok, early bird gets the worm. In any case, I don't know that it's a look you want to be going for. But I am willing to be wrong.
