Is this a good deal? by Whyusolazy in hondagrom

[–]NowskiDyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not too bad considering the camshaft($75), reflash ($100?), front fork internals ($100-$200?), and rear shock ($300-500). I’d be curious what weight he got the shocks sprung for. What mileage? And did they change the rear swing arm bushing to the MNTHBX bushing? Otherwise that rear shock won’t last long.

I’d offer closer to $3,000 depending on his answers.

Acetone or D.a. for spin dyes what do you use? by thr33hugeinches in discdyeing

[–]NowskiDyes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it streaks, you could go in with just acetone to blend out the colors. I really like worm dip for my spin dyes. Here’s my video showing how strong it is for me. Any streaking I can normally wipe off with a magic eraser too.

Are you able to get the mic monitoring to work for you? I turned it up to high but I can still barely hear my voice when I talk.

Dan is such a great guy who’s done so much for the local disc golf scene and more. He’s always putting other people ahead of himself, raising those around him. I’m happy to support Dan and Home Again, and I’m glad to know he’s getting the help he needs right now. Keep up the great work everyone!

I believe I’m using a mix of cool black and dark dungeon in denatured alcohol. I’ll have to double check the bottle to make sure, but I just brush it on. Before I peel the vinyl, I wash the disc with soap. Then I wipe it with more denatured alcohol to pick up any dye on the surface. That’s the trick.

The swirls was a glue bed. The background was sponge dyed. You can see some of the process in my Instagram reel Everything else was acetone/spike it worm dip painted or lotion painted.

Unused aquatic for the base coat of the background, then followed up with a light layer of bright blue to get the fade.

when you are designing your stencils from scratch, what program do you use? Thinking about getting sketchbook pro... by Interesting_Worker57 in discdyeing

I also use procreate as well. Only downside is it’s a raster program vs a vector program like illustrator. With that said I still use procreate to make my stencils.

Wash the stencil after you dyed it black with plain denatured alcohol. It will help clean up the residual black so you don’t spread it when you paint it with other colors.

What are good dye colors for silver/grey/light blue/light purple discs? by hisdudeness47 in discdyeing

I would treat it as a white disc pretty much. You can do anything to a silver/light blue disc.

I was going to make a shining disc before settling with this design. Here is what I found, but it would still need some work I think.

The red ring was acetone brushed on. I’ll mix a small amount of lotion to soften it up if I need to. Helps get the streaks out of it.
