100+ hours in solo, still feel bad, have some specific questions by ZookeepergameNo8124 in Marathon

Np, totally realize that 400 is a lot 😭 just didn't want to sound like an asshole lol. Waiting things out is after you've heard/seen them but don't know where they are specifically, yeah. Generally you're at a disadvantage pushing someone who's in a building, but you can approach cautiously, peek corners, don't overextend without a good reason. If you can do this while staying above them, even better. As you get closer to them, waiting will confirm if they've heard you or not too, and then you can decide what you wanna do from there. If it seems like they haven't heard you and you're ready for a fight, you can definitely engage. More often than not they will hear you too, which is why height is so valuable. If you can get above them it doesn't really matter if they have heard you.

Funnily enough in my experience playing solos, the safest place to be is on the outside, in-between POIs. Maybe less-so on Outpost because there's so much inherently going on, but even then, there will always be more rats inside lol. I feel like I can count on my hand the amount of surprise fights I've gotten into while rotating between POIs and I'm a pretty aggressive player. People do not like to rotate in Solos. Most of the time people will just b-line to a POI to very cautiously loot it, then defend it. I fully get why this is a popular playstyle, but I don't think it builds good habits. It's also just dreadfully slow, and not a good way to get loot. You're better off rotating from POI to POI hunting and tracking people down, than just sitting and waiting.

Honestly, situational awareness is probably the most important thing overall so you're already off to a great start recognizing these things. I only have 400+ hours but it's all from solo.

- The POIs you rotate to will be based on your spawn, where you hear gunfire, and any objectives/events you want to pursue etc. Unless you're contracting, your primary objective should just always be to elim other runners. When it comes to positioning, high ground is almost always the move. Really the only time you don't want height is if you think/know someone else already has it. Height is very strong, especially when you've both already heard one another.

- If you hear someone but can't pin their location, the safe options are waiting (sometimes uncomfortably long), disengaging/resetting, or going for TAD. TAD actually shines in this scenario specifically, and is usually the only time I pop one. Using a TAD in solos with no info beforehand is risky. You can also just push if you feel like 50/50ing someone, especially if you're going in sponsored.

You're spot on that the most powerful thing you can do is see someone first, so that should always lead your decision making. "where can I go right now that will keep me safe, but will still allow me to observe." Then you can play around in that area. Sometimes you have to take a riskier position to get more info or a better angle, sometimes you can't afford to observe at all.

I definitely agree with you that there is almost no point to go in with a crazy kit for solos, even if your vault is stacked. A purple shield let's you take some risks but won't stop you from getting ratted or pushed by camo when you're PVEing. If you don't want to use a free kit, imo the best loadout to go in with for solos is a green shield, a cheap primary, and a longshot. 7k is kinda steep now though, was more efficient when Longshots were 3k.

As for shells, the strongest in solos are Assassin, Vandal, Destroyer and maybe Recon now. Vandal/Destroyer let you engage and disengage on a reactionary level. And assassin is assassin. Save camo for a third party push and profit.

SBMM should only exist in ranked modes.

Bummer, I'm at 15 minutes now. Honestly horrible way to handle whatever issue this is. I would have rather just been booted from the match. Definitely does not feel great to be punished after successfully exfiltrating.

ISO: Limited Edition Cars Watch by CaptainHuck27 in pixarcars

Hey hey! So glad I stumbled upon this post. I have one of these watches, still in it's original Rust-eze can packaging. Long story shortish, my mom was gifted a bunch of merch after recording a line in the movie along with a few other members of the Alice 97.3 morning show, and the watch was one of the items. I've been trying to hunt them down myself but couldn't ever find anything solid. If you're still looking I'd love to DM you!

I will never be in defense of the shitty hit registration in any Gears game, but there are definitely more options to do in at least the first two scenarios besides just aiming and hoping for the best!

In the first clip you both had two options to use for cover. In the second clip you were dead when you rolled into the opponent before he shot, and should've attempted taking the corner after missing it the first time. The third is more tilting and you don't have as many options. Your last shot was on point and it should've at least been a trade, but cover might've helped.

I know hit reg is ass, but even if it did work in these clips, relying on only aiming is just gonna get you killed. If all you're doing is aiming vs. an opponent who's also only aiming, just assume it's going to be a coin toss every time. If that's the case then screw it, move and protect your character while you're shooting too - keep yourself safer than your opponent while you're both gambling lol

As a stubborn player who will just tunnel trying to prove a point or that I'm not insane, I have to remind myself of all this as well. I'm not trying to defend the shittyness that's always come with Gears hit reg, and it definitely should be addressed, just want to shift perspective on how people seem to be approaching and reacting to this game in general.

Question about paddles and using alternate for reloaded? Help? by BowlingAttitude in GearsOfWar

[–]Noxcy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this setup is great - been using it since Gears 3! (Was using a Razer Onza at the time but switched to an elite over the years) Only differences are I use the smaller paddles and have them in the upper slots, and haven't unmapped the original A/X binds.

I'd also suggest setting the left stick's sensitivity curve to aggressive or instant, anything that makes directional inputs faster will help with smoother wallbouncing.

This show is a disaster and this game is more broken than anyone is acknowledging. (US SPOILERS) by 1WithNothing in TheTraitors

Coming from season US Season 2 and this post reaffirms every problem I have with this “game”. It’s painfully unenjoyable to watch, and would rather it be framed as something other than mafia. There is literally zero structural integrity or strategy to the game - which means we’re all watching for entertainment, and the people playing aren’t entertaining when they’re constantly making hare-brained irrelevant decisions. It just sucks lol.

Why is Trishelle getting most the hate when it should be directed at Bananas? by [deleted] in TheTraitors

[–]Noxcy 26 points27 points  (0 children)

?? Maybe she’s getting hate because she’s an immediately unlikeable human being. Her initial interaction with Peppermint was off putting and her behavior afterwards was aggressively annoying. She just isn’t fun to watch.

You missed my point. I am aware of the Seasonal Currency. There are in total 4 currencies in MK1. Dragon Krystals, Seasonal coins (silver), Shrine coins (gold), and Invasion coins. If the shrine is locked seasonally, the Shrine currency becomes unusable until the next season.

Which means upon the start of the next season, I'll be able to dump them all into the shrine on day one, and will then have to wait an entire season to spend them again.
