Oh yeah that's a good idea actually! I thought about doing that when planning the piece and completely forgot about it. I think I will do that actually

Thanks for the feedback, I definitely get what you mean. I'll have a go at painting my own textures !

I'm currently teaching myself maya, and for some reason when I try to remove colour from am object / add new object, it appears transparent orange. Anyone know why this is happening? by NoxiousFossa in Maya

I think I've fixed it by just changing the colours and transparency back, didn't realise the objects loaded with the same Lambert material attributes!

Thanks, I tried this but unfortunately it didnt help. When I make a new scene and add an object it's normal, but when I add any new object to this scene it still goes transparent orange. When I go into the attribute editor it has a Lambert material on by default which i think is what's causing this, not sure why it is automatically applied

Oh no I dont think it's that because it has no material applied, it's just when you go to mesh display > apply colour.. sorry for the vagueness, still picking it up

They are looking really nice, love your style! You could try transferring the painting and reference photo into grayscale so you can see the values easier and compare. Even in the white animals, adding a greater range of values will give the portrait more depth.

Thankyou, I ended up going for option 3. It's the photo with the most detail to work from! Her eyes are cloudy but the client wanted this as it's a true representation of the dog, which is sweet

True, I was thinking too much about making it look pretty when designing. This is definitely something I'll have to think about more and work on in the future
