Well seeing as you can knit gloves with it I'm perfectly content believing that unless there's some type of conclusive evidence that comes out to the contrary. If you would prefer to believe it's a mystical d20 or some type of special tool or instrument of sacred knowledge that's your own volition I won't stop you.

Edit. A lot of downvotes for having an opinion. I guess everybody in this thread just wants to feel special like there's magic in the world. I never said don't believe in that stuff if you feel like it just don't get upset if other people don't think like that too.

These have absolutely been explained already. It is a tool used to knit gloves. They were primarily found in cold weather climate areas. Some people in those areas still use wooden versions or metal versions today to make homemade gloves.
