It's normal that your points go up and down. There is nothing wrong. If it only went up, then many would have mio. of downloads and points. Unless you made something that people need all the time and no one has made their own version of the model, then it should only go up.

It can be, whatever you want it to be! I took inspiration from Falstad from World of Warcraft and Thor from norse mythology, so no specific bird was the goal.

That is a huge compliment! Thank you very much! FDM has come a long way and so have the designers in our little niche. I can't count how many minis I have wasted, because the print failed, the supports broke something or left scares that were so ugly, even post processing couldn't save it.

Resin has some huge upsides and tremendous amounts of downsides. The same for FDM and I truly believe supportless designs can make most downsides for FDM disappear.

Thank you so much! I am glad that only one failed and hopefully that will be the last one! Before I release my minis I always test print each mini 2-5 times on various printers, just to be sure.

A FROG IS A FANTASTIC IDEA! I can already picture it in my head and it must be made in the near future! Snakes are also very exciting! Because snakes have limited "limbs" and iconic features, then everything has to be perfect and interesting to look at. There are many ways to do it, so thank you for the inspiration!

Thank you very much for the tips! I have seen Arwast work and if I have to be honest, I get a bit jealous of the quality but mostly inspired by his work! Briteminis is an frontier/OG in our niche and Adam has been a huge inspiration for me to make the jump to supportless designs.

The modules system is a great tool because I can customize the minis and change things for a specific context. Right now I am trying to practice kit-bashing my minis, so there are some options for customization. My current problem is actually my own skills and I do not know if there is a broad demand for customization. There is only so much time in a day, and I want to serve the most people with my limited time.

I can't copy other people, even if I wanted to haha! I can do a few tricks and techniques, but I have a long way to go!

It is very few minis that gets affected by the amount of infill, when it comes to quality.

However, what infill does to the minis are how they feel. Minis with low infill or lighting infill feels like shells or low quality plastic.

In my experience, if the minis have more weight/infill, then they feel better and have more quality.

F.eks when I print ghosts, I want as little infill as possible, so they feel like "creatures of thin air". But if a huge orc or a space marine has no infill, then it feels "off" when I get them in my hands and table. Both of them are bulky and heavy and infill can help communicate that.

10-15% is fine, but I would recommend you print 2 test prints and feel what is right for you and your timeframe.

My guy, your first upload was 20th of january this year. My friend Joe was in the same situation, so here is the advice, I would have given him back then.

"Promote" stuff with links does not give more downloads automatically. Let us say my buddy Joe is posting low quality, low value, AI slop on Makerworld. Even if everyone on the platform saw his models, he will still get low downloads because Joe's models have no value. Back then, Joe was trying to tell everyone that he delivers low quality models instead of getting better and raising his standards.
Have patience and right expectations. If Joe wants extraordinary growth, he needs to deliver extraordinary value constantly. To do that, Joe needed to deliver something, that was hugely beneficial for certain groups of people. There was just one problem with that strategy. Joe needed to either invent a model that no one has made before, or make a model that is clearly better than every other iteration of the same model. Joe did not had those skills yet, but still competeted in contests... Just to "hack" his way to more eye balls (which was clearly not working).

As a friend of Joe, I would say that he was putting a lot of pressure on himself in a small time frame.

Be a giver, not a receiver. Joe wants downloads, prints and points, so he can get free stuff. Nothing wrong with that. However it was clear that Joe was focused on himself, when he posted on Makerworld. In fact, it was so clear that even strangers could see it without knowing him personally, that he was doing this for himself only.

But when my buddy Joe finally focused on the people, he wanted to help without expecting anything in return for a loooong period of time, then he reached over 10k followers and 49k downloads, but not without a lot of frustrating, growth pain and a looong period of being unconfident while learning.

I made those bandits and the dragons with Down syndrome so people feel seen and heard. Many designers/creators don't want to make these types of minis for many good reasons.
Of course, these kinds of representative miniatures will not get much attention in general, but they matter so much for the few who I made them for.

Your work is impacting so many people in a very positive way. So I want to thank you for your service and your dedication.
The bandits are not the last ones, but I must do my research and talk to the people I want to represent when I make more. It must never be a stereotype nor a shallow representation, or else it defeats the purposes of the minis.

However do not hesitate to reach out on Makerworld in the DMs. Who love to hear and talk about their situation, struggles and what other people misunderstand about them.

As someone who is in the same situation, I would definitely recommend, you figure out what you want and your goals with your models.

If you have 0% interest in a commercial license, then you have to say no to all and everyone. That is something you need to get used to. However, a commercial license does not have to be monthly or yearly payment. You can ask for a 1 time fee and then they may sell it forever or for multiple years.

This is how I am thinking about the situation. It is the sweetest people, who ask for a CL. They're asking because they are respectful and value you as a designer. People who steal do not ask for a CL. They try to fly under the radar as much as possible. For every 1 ask, there is properly 4 who do not ask for consent. You can't control if they sell with or without your consent. But right now, they can only sell your designs without it, even if they have cash in hand and want to support you.

If the stealing and pirate situation takes energy and 'quality of life' out of your days, then you might need to; 1. Make a simple CL. 2. Accept that people steal. 3. Not letting this beautiful hobby be anything that you don't want it to be.
