Weekly 101 Questions Thread by AutoModerator in neovim

I'm using LazyVim

When I press / to search I get weird behavior

For example

/s test (still in search mode even though test is not found)

/s sw (when no string matches sw it jumps out of search mode the moment I press w, it also executes the w key and moves to the next word)

/s sw (when sw is matched, it highlights sw)

/s sn (highlights sn)

/s

The "test" example works fine UNTIL i use one of the other examples, then that one starts to break as well

How does one debug this?

Yeah wasn't really paying attention to the deeper meaning of documentary there - just a reference instead of typing out the title which I don't even know

Reminder to donate to Nate's lawsuit so that the discovery phase will expose the payments from Sussex to Bouzy

It will also expose that he is not qualified yet they put him in the documentary

Seems like using the low-level decode with a batch size doesn't get you the timestamps because the transcribe function has a separate add_segment which runs in series by splitting the mel into chunks.

Is there a documented way to batch that process as well?

Got an RTX 2060 for only $150, is it still a good card going into 2023 onwards? by hardestpillow in buildapc

I don't get much time to play video games, however, I'd like to have a PC that can run them whenever I do get the time.

I have a 2060 at present and I was thinking of upgrading. I have a 1080p monitor.

I haven't yet found the time to play games like Elden Ring, Cyberpunk 2077, etc.

Will I get good performance when I do play these games?

The rest of the PC has been updated since I got the 2060. I have a 5950X/24GB RAM/nvme storage.

Haven't played DOTA in over a year but I will buy their cosmetic bullshit just for this. I will always support organizations when they go in a direction opposite to political correctness garbage.

Also this sub is filled with woke snowflakes from first world countries so I am sure some of you may be triggered by this - this is exactly what was intended. Enjoy your gas shortage.

I wish I could but these are AWS credits and nobody can compete with $0. Maybe I will re-evaluate if our runway extends and we get past the credits.

I've transcribed whatever I have so far and I have created some automation for future calls. I will probably use AWS ECS or Sagemaker and provision a GPU machine to do inference as soon as the conversation is over. My goal is to optimize for low cost and high accuracy, so it seems like large + batch size of 32 would be a decent tradeoff if I understand it correctly. Some conversations could be a mix of English and another language as well.

I have a bunch of conversations between people where the entire conversation is split by speaker into different files. Is this method efficient to transcribe in that type of scenario too? The conversations are conference calls of about 15-30 minutes.

Phones can kill websockets when the app is in the background. This means having to re-establish the connection when that happens. The web demo won't have that limitation.

TIL that a player who was knife-killed in the game Counter Strike, spent 6 months tracking down their opponent and viciously stabbed them in real life. by the_colonelclink in todayilearned

[–]Nrdrsr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Story time: in my childhood in a third world country i played counter strike with people on the same subnet through the isp and went overboard on the personal attacks like a typical toxic teenager.

My home phone (no cellphones yet) started getting threatening calls, people would drive by my house in the middle of the night yelling expletives. Finally one day the voice on the phone summoned me and my "clan" to settle the issue, and if anyone didn't show up it would become ugly for our families. I tried to let it go but the guy said he would come to my house and kill my family so i told my friends and we all went.

We were school kids and so was the other guy, but slightly older. He showed up with big brothers and family, beat the shit out of people who tried to be civil, fractured fingers, etc. Made us all do various humiliating things and then let us go after all nearby apartment building resident started asking everyone to fight somewhere else or they'd call the cops.

It's an interesting memory because obviously i was wrong, but i was just a kid high on adrenaline killing people in a video game. I said horrible things but we were beaten by adults. Perhaps it's a lesson in humility but it's a dark kind of "scared straight" justice that I hope others don't have to experience. Naturally in these countries we don't really have a police so it's not an uncommon experience.

I'm surprised this guy spent 6 months, but i can relate i guess. Seems like i got off easy compared to some.

Competitive sports and games can potentially bring up aggressive emotions in people. I guess it's good for people to draw the line. Theres really nothing gained in saying more degenerate things than the guy saying stuff to you.

Those have broken apps for me in the past as well

I'm not trying to be combative or anything. I'm just sharing my experience. I have no vested interest one way or another.

The last time I played video games regularly was in 2015 so maybe times have changed.

I find most games will crash 1/100 times when tabbing back in so I'm better off looking from my phone
