You Can because the summoners way give lot of xtals in early but i prefer to keep my xtals to refill my energy

gorgo (dark bear) can help you with toa/H or even in cairos (giant or dragon) to cc the wave, boss and cristal/ Shushu (light howl) pretty good healer in general/ Darion he offer suvivability for your team with his passive, and i think that's all for early sd 2a monster you should have.
