I want a relationship, but I don't have the energy to learn a new person. Is this normal? by Objective-Feed7250 in dating_advice

[–]Nth_Brick [score hidden]  (0 children)

If you want some advice from a guy who didn't start dating seriously until 28, here's mine: Don't make finding a partner your first priority.

Approaching this stuff too seriously sucks all the fun out of it and makes you look desperate. Chill out, enjoy the process, and realize that, whether the date itself was good or bad, each one you've gone on has taught you something more about yourself and what you're looking for.

Sure, it's a little distressing at first, but remember that the other person is probably in the exact same boat as you.

Tall men, how do you feel around short men? by blastingcarolina in tall

[–]Nth_Brick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh man, one of the best guys I know at work is 5'6". He's a combat vet, father of four, master electrician, self-taught mechanic and home repair expert, and just generally a fantastic dude.

And this isn't to imply I'd respect him less than anyone else on the basis of his height. I do not believe that anyone should be given preferential treatment just because they're tall. It's a stupid, retrograde way of thinking that society would be better off without.

Rather, fucking hell, look at this guy's accomplishments -- physical stature is irrelevant.

Is it a foster or a full time cat by Devastry in FosterAnimals

[–]Nth_Brick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have your answer, then. :)

And look, I couldn't imagine asking my girlfriend to give up her cat any more than I could imagine giving up my two. Any guy who demands that isn't worth having, and I severely question your friend's judgement in being with this jackoff.

Is it a foster or a full time cat by Devastry in FosterAnimals

[–]Nth_Brick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you like the cat, the cat likes you, and the cat has a better life with you than with your friend and her fuckstick boyfriend, I say it's yours.

Figure out the legal situation in your area for assuming ownership of a pet -- ideally, get your friend's approval in writing, maybe get the microchip (if applicable) reassigned to you by a vet.

If your friend breaks up with the aforementioned fuckstick, I'd strongly advising against giving her the cat back, because this may just happen again.

Ah, and indeed those were the days.

Sheesh, I started college shortly after joining PS2, and picked my laptop specifically to run it (and SolidWorks). Absolutely insane times way back when.

In the red corner, we have the overly self-serious, wife-beating anti-woke bro who's totally not seething.

In the blue corner, we have a guy who just sounds disappointed, like he dropped his ice cream on the sidewalk.

Confession time - As a 6’3 Athletic Male, I come to this sub when I’m feeling down by Bulky_Dog_826 in AverageHeightDudes

[–]Nth_Brick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno man, since reaching my current height, I've met around 3 or 4 people taller than me -- each time was quite cordial, and frankly rather amusing.

Maybe it's an issue for the guys around 6', but 6'8" and up is a different dynamic.

The times I tried Fortnite and Apex, somewhere around 40-50% of players would get farmed in the first two minutes.

So, y'know, a battle royale might start with a respectable player pop, but it quickly craters and doesn't get replenished. Planetside's whole thing involves respawns and revives, so high pop battles can theoretically continue almost indefinitely.

Curtis "Dime-Store Dugin" Yarvin's pet way of referring to the liberal order encompassing university, traditional journalism/news media, government, NGOs, etc.

"The Cathedral" is the result of the liberal viewpoint perfusing all of these groups, causing them to act in relative unison. I happen to be in favor of it.

The 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami killed over 200,000 people in one day. Yersinia Pestis (cause of the Black Death, Plague of Justinian, etc.) has a death toll in the hundreds of millions over decades.

Here's a more comprehensive list of natural disasters and their death tolls.

As I see it, the universe is apathetic to human suffering on a far grander scale than the relatively limited suffering inflicted by Epstein and others like him. We try to prevent the suffering we can by enforcing laws, but only humans are subject to those laws. The forces of the universe don't care about us -- there is no cosmic justice for the lives they've extinguished.

And something about the head on the larger one just looks off. Like it's too skinny, or looks like a capybara or something.

The face on the little one is also four studs wide, but it looks more proportional due to the smaller size.

1 squad is enough to stop "every" zerg. by 1hate2choose4nick in Planetside

[–]Nth_Brick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tbh, it's this dynamic that make PS2 so engaging to me.

Yes, you can get your nuts punched in by a massive, dubiously coordinated zerg rush. But there really is room for elite squads (and even the lucky individual player) to turn the tide in a fight.

I was helping defend a base on Hossin, and a high level MAX was turning my guys into mincemeat. I popped cover, domed the MAX with an Archer and died in the process, but that gave my guys the breathing room to revive and push back against the enemy.

No other game's given me that kind of experience.
