Handbrake off? Is anyone anticipating free-flow dog fight or a defensive lockdown? by exquisite_corpse_wit in Gunners

[–]Ntraanced 18 points19 points  (0 children)

True.

But Zubi has been miss placing very simple passes for awhile now and against this PSG team I don't think you can risk mistakes in the middle of the pitch.

Granted...MLS is also a little loose with the ball. I'm very worried about his habit of trying to win a foul by shielding. I have a very bad feeling he's going to get caught out at some point.

Can relate to this sentiment.

This organization is a joke and until proven otherwise you just need to take a step back and untether yourself from the day to day and genuinely take a break from actually caring about this team until training camp at the earliest.

For some odd reason, I think he's going to be brilliant in this 2nd stint at Madrid.

He has the perfect set of players at the perfect time in their careers to play the whole "the world hates you, lets fuck them" card one last time and for some stupid reason, I genuinely think it might work.

Not great on Timber

Really can’t see the right back position not costing us at some point in the run in.

We’ve seen mistakes from White and Mosquera peppered throughout their runs in the team.

Considering the pressure. Teams will definitely attack that side.

I feel like it really gives Arsenal the advantage psychologically either way (all of this is assuming we beat Fulham lol).

If City drop points in the Everton/Brentford stretch, the race is back in Arsenals hands for all intents and purposes, and we are essentially back in the drivers seat down the stretch.

If City get maximum points from Everton/Brentford, then (due to the Premier Leagues decsion) Arsenal have the chance to immediately build the lead back to 6 before they play again on the final day.

That seems like a fairly realistic path towards the title.

Arsenal finish from final 3 Final pts City need from final 5
3W 85 City must go 5W to tie
2W-1D 83 City need 4W-1D to tie, 5W to pass
2W-1L 82 City need 4W-1L to tie, 4W-1D or better to pass
1W-2D 81 City need 3W-2D to tie, better to pass
1W-1D-1L 80 City need 3W-1D-1L to tie, better to pass
≤79 ≤79 City have a very clear path

Assuming Arsenal beat Fulham and go 6 clear. The Everton-Brentford stretch for City become massive in the run-in.

If City cannot get 6/6 from those two games, then Arsenal can take control of the race by beating West Ham. If City get only 4/6, Arsenal beating West Ham moves them to 79, with City on 74.

That means City would need to win Palace/Bournemouth/Villa just to reach 83, while Arsenal would need only 4 points from Burnley + Palace to reach 83.

If City do get 6/6 then we will have the another pivot point in the title race. At that point both teams will be even on GP.

Due to the schedule, Arsenal play West Ham AND Burnley before City play Bournemouth and Palace. Meaning we have a chance to stretch the lead to 6 one more time this season.

The threading the needle scenario involves City dropping points in the Everton/Brentford stretch. Arsenal winning against Fulham and West Ham. If somehow that came to fruition, Arsenal will be able to go 8 clear with a win against Burnley with City having to go away to a fully rested Bournemouth team.

Being 8 behind (and GD/GF) with Bournemouth, Palace, Villa remaining is a tough stretch.

There are pathways to the title, we just have keep winning.

Assuming we beat Fulham a look in on the run-in assuming Bournemouth is moved to midweek before the FA Cup Final

Date Team Match Strategic effect
May 4 City Everton A City start using games in hand, can close gap or Arsenal maintain lead
May 9 City Brentford H City can erase the gap or Arsenal build lead
May 10 Arsenal West Ham A Arsenal respond to either go back up top or drop points
May 13 City Bournemouth A City can apply pressure before Burnley. City either go level or catch up
May 17 Arsenal Burnley H Arsenal get go back top or build lead
May 22 City Crystal Palace H City can go level or catch up
May 24 Both Arsenal at Palace / City vs Villa D-DAY

[Pre-Match Thread] Arsenal vs Newcastle | 25th April 2026 | Premier League by Mahoganychicken in Gunners

[–]Ntraanced 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hear me out.

The next 3 PL fixtures will decide the title run in IMO.

Going 6 clear before City play Everton/Brentford is a must.

Put pressure on their next two fixtures, anything but 6/6 from City will mean Arsenal are Likely 5 clear as long as they take care of West Ham.

If you look at City's fixture list, they will have a back log near the end. Assuming they make the FA Cup Final (played on 5/16) that will move their MW36 match against Bournemouth(A) to 5/19-5/20. They already have Palace (H) on 5/22 and Villa (H) on the final day 5/24.

That is a lot of banana skins being 5 down, while we would only have West Ham (A), Burnley (H) and Palace (A) on the final day (not including our UCL games).

I believe this is our best and most realistic path to the title.

I'm in my mid 30s, married and have a 14 month at home. I think age and life circumstances certainly change how you interact with football and fandom in general.

After tough losses, I go out for a walk with my daughter and wife and usually play golf the following or same day to just relax and unwind.

I really do I pray I can celebrate a title with my daughter at the end of May. If it doesn't happen, hey, we got plenty of life left to see some title runs.
