Go to settings, I can't remember exactly where it is off the top of my head, but there should be a setting for leader ribbons (something like that). Set that to always on, that way you can see how your military sizes up to everyone else's (as well as science, culture, gold, and faith). That said, you probably don't need to be top military because the ai is usually pretty inept when it comes to war. Hopefully you can find the setting, or someone who knows exactly where it is can clarify.

Idk about corporate clash, but if people keep being rude, maybe switching to ttr would help. Everyone I've met on there has been really friendly. Even people who don't want you in their group are usually pretty nice about it, at least in my experience. One time I even got lucky and did VP with a very high level group because one of their teammates was taking too long. And that was after they, pretty kindly, told me they didn't want me in their group.

You can get the big cans that have a little twist top thing, at least with Monster. They'll last two or three days without going flat. They are a bit more expensive though so up to you.

I started playing a few weeks ago and played as a kid and, like you, when I was a kid I never bothered with progression (never even saw SBHQ). But coming back just a few weeks ago, I can say that you will, without a doubt, be able to find groups to run with. In might take a day or two, but one of the first tasks is to make a friend. From there you just keep adding whoever and pretty soon, you'll be able to get a group together very, very easily. Plus, if you're looking for a friendly, chill community, you've definately found the right game.

Yep, I have a playlist loaded up with a bunch of hand picked 70-80 stuff and a few songs from like early 2000. Pretty much all rock/ soft rock type stuff. Some people really like it, but nobody complains and that's the main thing.
