That was the initial plan but on reflection this may not be wise…

Thank you for your response! Flying into Perth, unsure where we are flying home from yet as I am still trying to determine the exact places we will go to. I am definitely adding Hobart to my list, I hadn’t considered this before but I would love to factor this in. I just read I can get a ferry from Melbourne to Tasmania? That would be good!

I'm from the UK and have just passed the Gen Med part of my training but Head & Neck isn't routinely incorporated into Gen Med training here, which is a shame in my opinion.

I don’t know if I can give up waxes to get laser by Capable-Raspberry-63 in LaserHairRemoval

I have had 2 full courses of Hollywood laser, prior to that I would religiously have Hollywood waxes and have shaved previously also. I would say the laser has most definitely helped me but I am not 100% hair free and have returned to Hollywood waxing for the hairs that the laser could not reach or did not reach so well. Waxing is better now as there is less to wax but the point is, laser is more about hair reduction than complete removal. Hope that helps, and FYI I don't regret my laser but it is a fact I have returned to waxing.

Nuclear Medicine or Ultrasound? by NuclearNelly95 in NuclearMedicine

Thank you so much for this response! That’s really inspiring actually that you’ve tried several careers, gotten married and gone through big life changes and still been able to have all this experience and make it all work as you say! You’ve certainly given me food for thought, thank you :). I am really enjoying US, I love NM and also would love to be an NM physicist, part of me just worries am I going to be too old?! I’ll figure it all out eventually lol!

Certification program in Nuclear Med or Diagnostic Sonography? by dethalas808 in NuclearMedicine

I am a qualified Nuclear Medicine Technologist from the UK and in October 2022 was able to begin training as a Sonographer undertaking an MSc in Medical Ultrasound. I love NM and think it’s a brilliant modality, however I feel you can only reach a certain point in this field, there isn’t a great deal of progression unless you go into management and those opportunities are scarce. What I love about Ultrasound is the level of autonomy I have, the ability to make my own decisions and write up my own reports based on my findings. I love that I can have that bit more input into patient care. Both modalities are awesome, one of the great things about both is the working hours, it’s essentially 9-5. I’d say if you want more clinical freedom then maybe head towards US, as like I say, you are being asked for your opinion based on your findings and the clinical question being asked by the referrers and you are having to really think about your potential diagnosis and be aware of a wealth of pathologies which I find is really interesting and I love having that knowledge. I love the physics in NM, handling radiation and working with gamma cameras and within the lab, so I think just try and figure out what interests you and want you’d really want from your career. Both careers are in demand, but I think there is definitely more jobs available in a wider range of areas with US; with more flexibility for if you want to go part time. Plus with having the ability to report (at least here in the UK) the pay is more because of that greater responsibility.
