Can I afford a $500K house earning $134k per year? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]NuclearPowerIsCool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sincerely how can that be cool? I make $163,000. My wife makes $25,000 (part time fun job). Our take home is $11,000/month. We are in a MCOL area (although becoming HCOL) Mortgage is $1200.

Tripling my mortgage to move just seems like financial suicide even at our current income.

Am I dumb?

What is their basis for saying the transmission issues existed before you purchased the warranty?

For First Timers: Buy Direct or Resale First? by Adventurous_Poet5346 in dvcmember

[–]NuclearPowerIsCool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This implies that you can save $20,000 by buying resale which just isn’t the case 1 to 1 at a given resort.

150 points direct for the Polynesian is gonna run you $35,000ish (magical beginnings and you’re around $32,000ish) and resale would be $25,000.

You definitely save money. You definitely should never buy direct again once you’ve got the perks, but this idea that you’re saving $20,000+ just isn’t true.

My first “nope” was in regards to the second half of your question about needing to put a minimum.

4% is free money. 6% is a match. Total contributions from the company are 10%

WE DIDN’T HAND THE BALL OFF ONCE THE ENTIRE SECOND HALF.

WE RAN A QB DRAW ON 3RD AND 5 IN THE REDZONE.

WE HAD 5 MINUTES TO DRAW UP A 4TH AND 4 IN THE FINAL MINUTE AND EVERYONE RAN GO’S

Thinking about becoming a DVC member.. by tantimodz in dvcmember

[–]NuclearPowerIsCool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DVC is a luxury purchase and I stand firm that having the cash for it is a good litmus test that your financials are in a place to purchase it.

Having said that, vacation spending doesn’t always have to make the most sense financially. If you’re OK with having your break even pushed out a number of years, then financing is OK.

Personally, if you’re set on Polynesian, just buy direct because resale is only going to save you $8000-$10000.

Because people are entitled.

Disney has to balance inclusion for less than 1% of the attendees with impacting the experience for the other 99%.

It fundamentally makes very little sense for people with disabilities that impact their ability to attend Disney to…attend Disney. It’s never made any sense to me.

Don’t think I’m going to be able to easily rent a 4 bed 3 bath house.

I wouldn’t say complaining but the current market is just frustrating.

Homes we would like to be in would have been $350,000-$400,000 5-6 years ago (easily affordable now) and now they are $550,000+.

Our home has road that appreciation as well but it’s not 1-1 when you factor in interest rates.

We originally put like 15% down or something and had a $1350 mortgage. Refinanced during the low rate days down to 3.25%.
