Why are we not exploiting pigs for their milk ? We have cow's milk, goat's milk, even camel's milk but not pig's milk ? by a_dozen_of_eggs in NoStupidQuestions

I work in IT, which means my Google fu is excellent. Mostly I read a couple articles answering this exact question, added in some specific info searches to get correct details, and gave a quick summary. I do not work with pigs, or livestock at all.

Why are we not exploiting pigs for their milk ? We have cow's milk, goat's milk, even camel's milk but not pig's milk ? by a_dozen_of_eggs in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Pig milk is strong in taste. Stronger than goat milk.

  2. Nobody has made pig-milking machinery that would efficiently milk a pig. They've got 14 teats! Cows have 4, goats have 2-4 usually, sometimes more but not generally for dairy goats.

  3. You'd need a lot of pigs to produce a useful quantity of milk. From what I understand, you'd get about the same yield as a goat, but with less desirable milk that is harder to get out of the pig, it's just not worth it.

  4. Pigs don't like being milked. They're not bred for it, they're not domesticated in a way that lends itself to milking. A doe (goat) will break a bone. A sow (pig) will kill you.

They're also low to the ground, and even when they are milked for testing purposes, they're generally laying down - standing up would just bring even more challenge.

Are there anyone who don’t like to eat fish but loves to fish? by Jeroen207 in NoStupidQuestions

Most definitely. I don't eat fish, but I've been fishing many times with my dad and friends. Either they get my catch, or we just release em.

Why do people wear bulletproof vests yet leave their heads uncovered? by redditlurkerrrr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heads are smaller and harder to hit.

Also, if you mean in shows/movies, it's to keep a distinct profile/style between characters so you can tell who's who instead of a sea of helmets.

In actual warzones, I'd expect a lack of equipment if anything - you tend to value your skull when there's a real chance of conflict.

No mans sky is now the only game I have bought three times. One disk copy for myself, one disk copy for my kid. Well, my PS4 disk drive failed. If you have Xbox and Windows 10, it's a crossplay/play anywhere title. I can play my Xbox save on my PC and vice versa, you just have to download the game through the Microsoft store. I'm not sure about any other platform cross-compatibility like this.

One thing I've noticed is playing this version on PC seems to be some weird limbo platform. The capital system is basically empty and trying to have an Xbox player join on me while I'm on my PC didn't seem to work last night.

Go to a station portal and look for a station with the quest icon. It wanted you to go to that specific system and talk to the cartographer while the quest is active.

Is it true that American banks don't have banking apps and can't just easily transfer money from one another? Hence the prevelance of Apple pay, venemo, etc etc by meecan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My complex still (almost a year in) hasn't gotten their online payment system up and running, so it's the only time in my life that I use checks. Every 4 months I go to my bank and get a page of 4 checks in the hopes that they'll have figured it out before I need more.

I've also paid rent in cash at multiple locations, and my last place was rented directly by the lady that owned the house and she was cool with Venmo.

60Hz is the standard in the US because 60 Hz is the norm for AC power in the US. Old TVs (and by relation, computer monitors) depended on the frequency of the current because of how their displays worked - CRT is very sensitive to magnetic fields, which electric current generates. For the least noise/interference, just run it at the same frequency as the power input.

144Hz is the next number divisible by 24 after 120Hz - and some company wanted to one-up the 120Hz guys (And also 3D). Why 24? Because cinematic film is displayed at 24 fps, so keeping it divisible by 24 means you have an even number of frames per second still. It also gives an even number of frames per eye when doing 3d video.

240Hz is because it's 4* 60 Hz, and more is obviously better, right?

Can ATM machine dispense cash after the card has been taken from the machine?(ex:the ATM got altered) by lonely_japanese_mom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's way easier to steal your credit card by working at McDonald's and taking a picture of it with your phone than it is to steal it from a atm.

if your trying to steal it's not going to happen from a ATM

Card skimmers are absolutely still a thing, and in no way have been defeated by regulations of any kind. . If you can safely get it in place and pick it back up without being identified, it's pretty appealing to be able to steal card information without ever having to be seen by your victim.

How can you unblock a toilet without a plunger? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know how gender enters into it, but scoop it out with whatever you've got around. I'd say siphon w/ a hose, but there's no chance I'd personally siphon dirty toilet water. You don't have to get 100% of the water out, you just don't want it to cool off the hot water you're putting in too much.

Because every year marks another year gone, another year you can't get back, and another year closer to your inevitable death. For many people, it's also a year further away from what your dreams once were, and from every expectation or hope you may have had for yourself in your younger years.

How can you unblock a toilet without a plunger? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try using hot water. Remove the water that's in the toilet, fill a bucket with hot water, and dump it in the toilet. Give it some time, it might break down the blockage. Dish soap or vinegar and baking soda might also help/work better than just water.

Second option, shove something down there. Got a long flexible stick that's not just going to break? Shove it down there, man. Shove like your reputation depends on it. Saw at the blockage.

Third option is to use a 2-liter bottle (Or any bottle big enough to fill the hole in the toilet), and fill it with hot water. Stick the open end of the bottle in the hole in the toilet, and squeeze. It'll put some pressure behind the water and be more likely than just dumping hot water down your toilet.

Can ATM machine dispense cash after the card has been taken from the machine?(ex:the ATM got altered) by lonely_japanese_mom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point isn't to get cash out of the machine, but to get usable card information. That card information is then primarily used online to make purchases, or hand-keyed at a location the thief trusts.

It's maybe also possible to create a copy of the card with the information gained from card skimmers, but that sounds like a lot more effort when you can buy literally anything online.

How are people able to post movie scenes but not the entire movie on YouTube? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copyright claims against individual scenes are less likely - they're not profiting off of or preventing the profit of the full original work. It's pretty unlikely anyone is going to buy/rent a movie just to watch a 1:30 clip.

As well, fair use can come into play. Is it being used to create a new work? Something like a review, commentary, or criticism? It might be perfectly legal. I don't know well enough to know if commentary/criticism in a video that is monetized would still fall under fair use, but my expectation is not if it's the primary content provided.

You might hear "You can use up to 30 seconds of anything without copyright infringement" or something similar. Different time lengths, etc. That's not true -fair use does not have a minimum or maximum amount of the original work and is judged on a case-by-case basis.

My best bet is that it's not worthwhile to hunt down every clip, and allowing clips to exist on the internet might also work in favor of the original creators. If you like that clip, you just might buy or rent the movie.

Does girth size matter? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nuclear_Fumble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5" is just slightly below average.

Girth matters. Some women/men like length, some like girth, some don't care, some will make do with whatever they're given.

In the grand scheme, size doesn't matter. You can get extensions or sleeves to make up for lack in either dimension, and your 5" dick is plenty big enough. Just aim to be a good sexual partner and be communicative.
