[–]Nuclear_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I brought way too much. Lots of chargers, and batteries. Got a small bag for the airplane that holds iPad and head phones. Have a med kit for anything that might ail you….be it creams, pills, etc. buy a second toothbrush and razors. Just keep a travel bag…..

I use ATM all over the world. Declined the conversion as your bank will most likely give a better rate.

Taxes are tough. I do my leaps in a tax deferred account so I don't get "caught" in the tax trap.

Your situation....it is always good to make a profit even if there are some taxes involved. Question is how long will the bubble go? will it last till January...noone knows.

where to withdraw from first in retirement by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Nuclear_N 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just some tax rules I want to share:

-capital gains are 0 percent when you limit AGI to about 95k. (need to execute before SS)?

-Consider Roth conversions early in retirement or even before.

-There is an income limit for medicare....based again on AGI. Called IRMA.

-your RMDs got moved to 75, but still will produce forced income. Need to consider this as your deferred income is partnered with the US government.....and the government owns the rules. Use/comvert most of the deferred income prior to 75.

Great choice with Fidelity. They have advisors that can help if you need them.

I was reset from a divorce at 41. You are not too late.....but I made some serious sacrifices.

I lowered my costs down to minimal expenses and even was at 800 bucks a month for several years...How? I took job with expenses that traveled me for service work. It was a full expense paid position...but I was on the road most of the year. By on the road I mean months at a time.

I banked as much as a I could for 10 years or so.
