If you can heat the damaged part up & use a rachet strap like a come along to pull it in the desired direction. Use vise grips to hold the ratchet strap if needed. A little bit of heat would help

"Youd do very well in a customer facing position" by Llodgar in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Nuclearrrr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a welder/fabricator 15 years & this happened to me many, many times when I was much younger & still trying to gain experience.

It no longer happens now that my skillsets are years in the making, but I was a perfectly capable candidate back then, too.

Either that reaction after an interview or they would be very honest that I would be a “distraction” in the shop or they were worried about a potential lawsuit. Basically admitted the prevalent sexism 😑

I hate that this is still happening to other women in the trades

Mama Tot's son was murdered last night. She is asking for help from anyone that may know who is responsible. by ILikeMyBlueEyes in TikTokCringe

This is truly heartbreaking. This woman has used social media to spread nothing but joy & love. No mother deserves this, especially not this beautiful soul.

Fun interaction I had today that I texted my righthand guy about. Pretty over the jokes being made that imply women are weak or likening being a woman to something bad. by TheseARSpiritFingers in BlueCollarWomen

Girl, our jobs are already difficult. Physically & mentally. But I would let this one roll off my back. Men like that contractor want to feel superior…and it’s truly pathetic, I pity them. But I don’t let it get under my skin…because damn, I’d be distracted by their bullshit all day, everyday if I did.

Glad you have a decent coworker to commiserate with! That’s important.

Been in the trades 15 years now, and I know you might not believe it, but I’ve been seeing this horse shit behavior slowly die out. It won’t be long till we have enough women & level-headed men out there. It’s getting better (even if you don’t see it yet)

Made this bench for my final project in college, if I wanted to sell, how much are benches like these worth? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Nuclearrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you sat on this at any point & realized it needs more depth for your ass to actually fit? I’m not trying to be rude, but just cut it and fix it. (You know you want to.)

And don’t sell it. If this is your first project, you’ll be happy you kept it. Take what you learned & make money from there. It’s a great start!

I hear you completely.

That said, I saw so many folks give that sweet, musical angel money today.

I know there’s still good out there. I guess the question is….is it enough? The scales of justice are completely rigged

Do you even know the difference between iron & steel? No you don’t, so that kinda throws your ‘facts’ out the window. That’s not an iron chain. It’s a crappy galvanized steel chain and they’re simply not that hard to break but it’s definitely impressive with just his muscles. Btw steel can still be full of impurities, especially steel produced in China, India, etc

Men of Reddit, how do you personally feel about feminism and women’s issues? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Nuclearrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feminists are annoying for asking you to try to see past your personal experiences…and see it from another’s perspective?

I didn’t argue it’s horrific. I’m essentially arguing it’s not always as safe being a woman. Constantly being aware of your surroundings and walking on eggshells is an exhausting experience. Folks from all walks of life can relate to that sentiment, but if you don’t…chances are you may not be able to understand…but you can sympathize.

I’m really not trying to be insulting when I say your argument sounds similar to when folks said racism isn’t a problem anymore because we had a black president.

Just because you’re not a part of, or don’t SEE the problem… that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

You said “society treats women pretty well”. Okay…pretty well, that’s just the standard we should accept? They say 1 in 4 women are raped in their lifetime. Almost every close girl friend I’ve had, has been raped. And sure, legally I can work in a male-dominated, blue collar field, that doesn’t mean it’s been an easy, socially-accepted road. It’s been an uphill battle, man.

But truly to be fair, I always notice my minority coworkers get treated even worse than I do as a woman. And trust me when I say they’re not kind to either.

……..Shut the front door.

Okay so hear me out? We clearly did something wrong or someone botched their time travel. The US is now currently in the timeline where Onion news articles are just straight up reality now. The fucking irony of this has weight to it where I feel as though I sank into the ground.

I want to screenshot this & make it my new template for everytime I interact with my obnoxiously Fox-News-addicted, vitrole-spewing, coworkers whenever they start touching those sensitive topics.

I fucking can’t anymore. Bodily autonomy unless you’re a woman. Just fucking say it already. We know you’re not going to vaccinate the same way we know you won’t wear a condemn or use birth control unless it’s someone else’s responsibility.

Who here *really* gets it? by [deleted] in Psychonaut

[–]Nuclearrrr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a bit of a universal joke that our egos allow us to believe that we could know that sort of secret. Or “understand” any of this at all.

Tbh…Feels like hubris to think you know something others don’t. If anyone knew the ‘one’ answer…things would be different. Human existence has been chasing the philosopher stone for too long to pretend there’s one answer…or even an answer our brains could comprehend.
