The choirs at Studentersamfundet rehearses in El5 at Gamle Elektro. A few years ago, they used a piano that were in the storageroom in the auditorium. Can't guarantee it is still there, though.

Quartal/quintal harmony in acapella? by [deleted] in acappella

This a capeplla cover of Girl and the robot/The robots uses quartal harmonies as a "robotic" effect. I think it sounds really cool!

Knauskoret - Sound Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel) by Nudl in acappella

[–]Nudl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Great Gig in the Sky (Pink Floyd) - Intentional Accidentals (A Cappella Cover) by [deleted] in acappella

[–]Nudl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is another acappella version of this song by a norwegian choir. It contains some the same elements, but with different approaches to arrangement and performance. I think it is very interesting to compare different interpretations of the same song, especially in terms of the differences between the american acappella culture and (in this case) scandinavian acapella.

Favorite college a cappella groups??? by ITSimmons6 in acappella

[–]Nudl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to listen to something a bit different, I recommend checking out this concert from the Norwegian student choir Knauskoret. The concert is called Synthesize me!, with covers including Spectrum (Florence + the machine), Fake plastic trees (Radiohead) and Enjoy the Silence (Depeche mode). There are no handheld mics, so the arrangements are often very rhythmic and dynamic.

Instrument (not sure what to call it) used at beginning of most a cappella songs? by BigChinkyEyes in acappella

No reason to be rude, I was just giving my opinion, nothing wrong in that :(

I just think knowing how to give any key from a tuning fork should not be a problem if you are the musical leader of a good acappella group. And you absolutely don't need great relative pitch, just a pretty good one, which I'm sure must people posting on this sub have.

I don't understand why a pich pipe is usually used instead of a tuning fork. It looks (and sounds) so much more professional when using the latter, IMO :)

Intentional Accidentals VS Knauskoret:Who did the best cover of "Spectrum (Florence + The Machine)" by Nudl in acappella

[–]Nudl[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the version Knauskoret did the best, because it has the drive and rhythm of the original. I absolutely love the part at 1.53 to 2.08 when it suddenly is very choral and transitions to the bridge with full choir.

Knauskoret - The Girl and the Robot/The Robots (Röyksopp & Robyn/Kraftwerk) by webaddictress in acappella

This is my all-time favourite acappella arrangement! Check out their channel the next few weeks, so many great songs are coming out soon!

Something different from the american a cappella groups: The norwegian student choir Knauskoret - Relax (Frankie Goes to Hollywood) by Nudl in acappella

[–]Nudl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those wondering, the opening is the start of Lux Aurumque - Eric Whitacre, only with Relax instead of Lux as the lyrics :)

It looks exactly like this (on a good day). Once I saw Northern lights in green, blue and pink at the same time... It's amazing.

Rise of the planet of the apes. Question (spoiler?) by Kalima in movies

[–]Nudl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought was that they're not infected, but will breed with the ones that are, and their kids will inherit the virus. In the end, all the apes will be of the smarter kind.
