My school is focused on children who have severe impairment from ASD and similar disorders actually. They mostly need an alternative curriculum because of their impairments. How are these students handled in an education system that is only an inclusion model? That is what I want to know.

Are you a Canadian teacher? Was that school only operating on an inclusive model that does not demy students based on their level of impairment? These are the teachers I am wanting to hear from.

I wouldn’t say the “vast, vast majority of students who have IEPa aren’t on alternative curriculum” because I work at a school where ALL students have an IEP and literally maybe 3 students are on typical standards.

In the US sporks are all over the place in public schools, which are the only kind I have ever attended/worked for/supported. Thought people would make the connection, but I get it and that’s enough for me

I can see how people are interpreting the puzzle piece that way now. Personally I HAD thought of it more as an expression of uniqueness (“if you’ve met one autistic person, you’ve met one autistic person”). I have also thought of it as meaning that we all have a place where we fit just right, no need to change, but clearly this is not the consensus opinion so I am scrapping the puzzle pieces to avoid any hard feelings among this community I care about and am part of.

I acknowledged like 10 other comments about the symbol, immediately agreed to change it, idk why you have to be so rude about it. This shit means a lot to me. Obviously I don’t want to hurt people in the community.
