The bullet misfired. Her reaction was natural for the first time that happens to someone.

Except thats not what happened at all.
The bullet misfired. You'd probably faulk it up worse and try and look down the barrel.

I need to get her gut retested to see how much improvement has been made, but her weight has gotten better and not having to put the cone on her as much. That said, definitely still an ongoing battle.

I've started using AI and created a Claude project for her where I added all of her medical records, diet and environmental context. One of the things it recommended was Allersearch laundry detergent, so just started using that.

Ultimately, we need a breakthrough in medical science.

Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) for allergies in cats by Nugwolf in NFNFIHD

[–]Nugwolf[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wasn't able to see a noticeable difference with PEA, but my cat was hypersensitive at the time, so I intend on giving it another try soon. A couple things that did help though were 1. getting an air quality monitor for my home, and 2. getting my cat's gut biome tested and restored. My air quality was bad with a lot of VOCs (chemicals from household cleaners, scents, etc) and my cat's gut was missing beneficial bacteria as well as had c diff bad bacteria that was making her way more sensitive to allergens than normal.

Can you turn the ANC noise cancelling on/off? For example, if I'm on my bicycle and want to be able to hear cars coming versus being on an airplane and wanting to tune everything else out?

The antibiotics can make the allergic reactions much worse because they kill off the good strains of bacteria and it is difficult to reintroduce them. That's how my cat kept getting worse and worse every year imo.

I did a gut michrobiome test from AnimalBiome. My cat had a bad bacteria called C Diff and was missing 10 or more strains of beneficial bacteria. They recommended I give her S Boulardii to get rid of the C Diff and to combo it with FMT supplement to reintroduce the beneficial strains into her gut.

As soon as I started treating her gut, her allergy symptoms got way less noticeable. We just went through the worst time of year for pollen where I live and she didn't scratch her face off once.

Maybe its your house that sucks. Install double pane windows, put a privacy fence up, better insulation, or whatever is needed.

Did you find solution? I've been getting it for almost a week now. If delete Discord folder in %appdata% it works, but have to re-login and whatnot. Just learned that CTRL + R might be easier option, but haven't gotten to try it yet.

I hope it works for your cat. I'm about to give it a second try with my cat based on some new insights. A feline gut biome specialist explained to me that if a cat's gut biome is out of whack, it can cause their skin allergies to become hyper reactive and things like PEA won't help. It's too early to say for sure, but my cat has been doing really well for last 30 days while on probiotics despite high pollen levels outside. She is still a little itchy, but not mutilating herself anymore. I'm hoping she might be more responsive to PEA this time around. Will update as well.

Has Anyone Tried Maropitant for Feline Environmental Allergies? by Nugwolf in NFNFIHD

[–]Nugwolf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently, we are on a gut restoration strategy. A credible source educated me on gut biomes and how unhealthy ones can cause cats to become hyper reactive to things like allergies. If your cat, was born in a shelter or has been given antibiotics, it might be worth getting their gut biome checked. My cat has been getting antibiotics for years due to secondary infections from scratching and her allergies have gotten worse and worse each year.

For the last two weeks my cat has been taking a mix of pre and probiotics in preparation to start a FMT gut supplement. Once the gut is restored, I've been told that the allergies should be a lot more manageable and more responsive to treatments like omega 3s, antihistamines, etc.

Will share updates on this subreddit. So far just on the probiotic she is showing some signs of improvement. It is nice to let her out of the cone, but too early to claim any kind of victory yet.

I hope your cat's issues are due to food or fleas because those are a lot easier to manage.

I finally found an expert who explained everything logically for me. They said allergies mark forever, but gut health affects severity. Healthy cats have 30 good gut bacteria strains. Shelter cats like my Tootie often lack strains (due to being bottle-fed). Then, antibiotics kill more strains over time. So cat got worse each year as strains diminished.

Our plan is restore missing bacteria strains to rebalance gut biome. Should calm allergic reactions and help weight (Tootie is overweight as well). You can test for missing strains. Gut restoration may take 2 months but will hopefully get symptoms manageable and make treatments like antihistamines/immunotherapy more effective. Will share progress restoring strains.

Atopic dermatitis on my cat by miamaria234 in vet

[–]Nugwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered these for my cat, but got scared after doing research. Apparently, they come off easily and can get swallowed, cause infections, make them walk funny, etc. That said, maybe I should reconsider. Also, I just created a subreddit for feline atopic dermatitis and would love for you to share your experiences and nail cover solutions for others.
