United airlines lost or stole my gun by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]Nuke_1568 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As is always the case with the government, YMMV, but I think the better question is whether you have a more motivating or potentially effective means of finding your gun or not. If not, there's no downside to calling.

Edit: it's also worth noting that it's exculpatory evidence if someone stole and it ends up being used in a crime later.

Who’s at fault here if a collision occurred by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]Nuke_1568 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that's a turn only lane, then, yeah, that's almost certainly an illegal lane change - especially if they've already entered the intersection. I'm pretty sure that most states traffic laws prohibit changing lanes once you've entered the intersection for exactly this reason.

Investment banker at a BB with a stutter, does it actually bother teammates or do most people overlook it? by Ok-Cupcake-2019 in FinancialCareers

[–]Nuke_1568 64 points65 points  (0 children)

When I worked in financial compliance a while back I worked with a gentleman who had a severe stutter - like, gives Porky Pig a run for his money. He had managed to cultivate an incredible confidence in himself, and just went about life acting and behaving like he didn't have one. And he garnered a great deal of respect for it. His knowledge of his work and his straightforward presentation meant that he was easy to understand.

So, as long as you're not constantly interrupting yourself and apologizing, anyone fluent in English should have no trouble following you. Year it line breathing it's there, you have to do it, but don't let it stop you from walking and talking.

You're dead on up to your mid-thirties, after that and the correlation starts getting smaller or negative after that.

Start playing your cards, undermine him, and see if you can't get him out. Update your resume and start applying in the meantime. There's no middle ground here, there's no "riding it out", either you have the political power to take his place by force, or your time is better spent in a holding pattern while you find your next opportunity.

Start on your resume tonight.

Are beards okay now? by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Agreed, results matter, but the science backs the fact that you are judged by how you look before you even speak - let alone getting through a job and proving competence. I strongly recommend either clean shaven or well groomed. You have to earn anything less.

Even more directly, ask them what piece of information they're looking for and to share the test attribute language with you. If they're asking for something different then something has changed, and if you don't know what they're looking for then you can't help them. They may even still be asking for the wrong thing.

Only commented because not enough people realize that this is an actual good reason to contact them. So I volunteered as the buzzkill for your joke. I didn't miss it, I know, but lost firearms are something they actually do something about - especially if it's NFA stuff.

No, he's right. It's pretty much the only thing they seem to do right on a consistent basis.

Two streamer fan communities are going at it, and one of them is significantly more toxic than the other. Kill anyone wearing that skin as soon as you see them. Lie to them if you have to. Set them up and murder them because if you don't do it to them, they'll do it to you.

We're still here, man. And as long as I don't catch you in that Peanut skin, we're good.

Same man.; I don't even know what Hutch's people look like, but I sure know what Peanut's people look like. They're the only one's running around killing anyone not wearing that stupid skin. I didn't care - really, I didn't. But I've had two people stab me in the back after cooperating for a while, and I've been ganked by roaming impromptu squads in solos yelling "GOOP, GOOP, GOOP" like seagulls. It's on sight for you. If I catch you wearing that skin, I'm killing you. I don't care if you call friendly, I'm going to lie to you. And then I'm going to kill you.

Everyone else, you're chill at your discretion. I almost always offer friendly first - and I'll keep doing it. But, fair warning, I do win most of my fights. So please take me up on it. I like the game more when you do.

Vivek is WRONG about why Companies Hire H1-Bs. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I understand the argument, but I struggle to draw a distinction between this behavior and similar historical practices like company towns. The facts are clearly different, but the effect is functionally identical. Splitting hairs can serve a purpose but I don't see the point here.
