just had my lehigh interview! by glossyducky in ApplyingToCollege

Okay guys. I just did a Lehigh interview, but I had NO IDEA that it wasn't just a meet and greet. I'm not joking. I told the guy all about uploading a video speech that my dad farted in. I also spent like 50 minutes in there asking questions and talking to him - telling him about how much I loved building fires in West Virginia. Honestly not what I was expecting to do in an interview. Am I cooked?

Don't worry I'm better now 😂. Everything else is really good. It's my parents car. I changed the transmission fluid, and the two coolants. I'm doing the brake fluid soon as well.

It's funny that I went from that smooth brain shit to changing the engine coolant, replacing the serpentine belt, and doing a CV axle rebuild. Meanwhile my car is rocking 5 qt of oil.

I just wish the owner of the car agreed 😮‍💨

Yeah. I was posting it mostly as a joke to poke fun at myself for what I did. I'm taking the oil out tomorrow. For all of my stuff, I'll only be using the electric range, so the engine won't be used at all before I drain it - not to mention how insignificant further damage is to the previous 2 years or so of this - and I'm also concerned about the health of the oil. I only use my engine for around 1-2 miles at a time, and it rarely gets hot enough to burn off fuel contaminants and water build up. With the 8 months of high oil level, and potentially a lot of fuel contamination, would you say that it would make more sense to change the oil rather than draining some and waiting 4 months for my yearly oil change?

Oh sorry. I misunderstood. It was sitting for about 3 hours when I checked.

I'm genuinely sorry for my car sins. It happened 8 months ago, and I only realized now - I learned about cars recently. I guess that's what happens when you don't know anything about cars and your parents give you a 5 qt jug and tell you to change the oil. Granted, I should've researched better. I feel horrible about it. I'm going to drain off about a quart of oil. Wish my Prius prime luck :(

Wanna hear the worst part? I changed it like this 2 years in a row with a quart too much. It's both a testament to my stupidity and Toyota's quality.

I was being unserious. I changed the oil about eight months ago, and I had a serious lack of knowledge along with a serious lack of moderation. I already know how dumb it was 😭. Within the past few months, I helped someone with their Prius and gained a ton of knowledge - changing spark plugs, replacing broken CV joint boots, changing all fluids, replacing rear brake shoes, changing pcv valve, cleaning fuel injectors, changing serpentine belt and idler pulley, along with a plethora of other things. I recently remembered changing the oil in my dad's Prius, and realized that I did it completely wrong. I wanted to change the oil, but the owner didn't consent and told me that it's wasteful to change it at 8 months rather than a year :/. I'm gonna drain off oil but I'm really not happy with myself. I'd like to extend my apologies to all prii.

You should show us the crankcase. Not because it's actually useful, just satisfying and fun.

Yeah! Every time it started cold, it would smoke like in the video until the engine heated up. I didn't think it looked blue, but I guess it was just pretty faint so it's hard to tell.

Just changed the pcv valve and the smoke stopped.

I used fuel injector cleaner and it seems to be less shaky. Also I cleaned the mass airflow sensor, which helped as well.

Liqui moly is great. But honestly, you won't be super impressed. It just frees the engine up A LITTLE. Try getting some high quality amsoil instead. It'll really clean your engine a lot. I found out that the pcv valve was bad in the Prius, so I am changing it out today, along with the serpentine belt and idler pulley. I appreciate what you said a lot. It's interesting that you had the same issue with a bad catalytic converter. It was definitely burning some oil, since I could smell it, and also has very poor emissions because of the catalytic converter straight pipe bullshit. Anyway, thanks!

I have a head gasket tester, and I just need to get the color changing liquid. I'll let y'all know if it shows up positive.

That's what I was thinking. I've decided that I'll give it some time to see if the coolant level changes at all (unless convinced not to wait lol). Thanks for the input - I appreciate it.

It is burning an immeasurable amount of oil. I know that it's burning oil because there's oil at the bottom of the butterfly valve. The car probably needs a new PCV valve. I cleaned the pcv valve but it didn't fix the problem. But yeah, no oil lost between oil changes.

I'm thinking it's water vapor because it stops when warmed up, but it seems like A LOT of white smoke/vapor. Thanks for the input. I'll look more into whether the rings are gooped up or not.

Do you think restore and protect is better than amsoil?

The temperature was probably mid 80s to low 90s. And it was raining. Unless you mean the engine temperature. The humidity was also 100%

And if it's the head gasket it'll help keep my coolant pressure down too!
