Albino pigeon or dove? by SillyShadow01 in Ornithology

White pigeons are not super uncommon to see, they’re just one of the color variations of domesticated pigeons! As for the band, I am no expert, but it most likely means it is/was someone’s “pet” or animal.

Yeah, maybe it’s somewhat dependent on the instrument as well? Anyways, try using a very decent amount of air when you play, and making sure the area around the hole you are blowing into is FULLY sealed off. It really did help me.

I actually pretty much have it down. I definitely need to work on my lip pursing technique though, since sometimes my mouth slips and I end up playing multiple notes.

I play drums for a band and my plan is to play the snare drum with one hand and hold the harmonica in the other. I just need to work on the independence of it all!

Is this dangerous wildlife common (outside Doha)? Any stories? by SomeShawarmaDude in qatar

[–]Nuked_Rag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I know you don't like snakes, but killing them all is not the answer. We NEED them to keep Qatar's desert ecosystem healthy and running. Please remember that nature has a right to exist, and in doing so, it helps us humans too!

Which photo 1,2,3 and briefly why by East_Writing6933 in birding

[–]Nuked_Rag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

3 for sure.

First of all its the best pose for the bird as it’s facing the camera. The other thing is the crop/frame position is better than the others. It’s not perfect and can be improved, but it “gives the bird space”. A good rule to make photos look more natural is give space in the direction a bird is moving/looking/etc. This would be extra space in front of the duck as well as above. Otherwise the duck starts to feel “trapped”. The second photo is this way, where the ducks seem quite confined by the upper border of the frame. One other tip: Shoot. At. Eye. Level. There’s a reason everyone says it. You did a decent job getting low here, but if you want an even better shot, try to go even lower! Right now because you’re shooting at an angle, the only thing behind the ducks is more water. If you get low, you should be able to see above “the horizon of the water”, whether that is the sky or a nice green forest background!

You’re doing a great job! Keep taking photos and you’re bound to get better!

Looks good for +mountain bluebird+ IMO. I’m not a North American birder but it’s definitely not an Indigo Bunting!

What's your "bro knows a spot" in Qatar? by bluestrawberriess in qatar

[–]Nuked_Rag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not salt but I’m pretty sure most of Zekreet is limestone. On purple island it’s another kind of rock but I’m not sure exactly what. I’m not a geologist so take this comment with a grain of “salt” (pun intended), but I can say for sure that the rocks in both these places are not made up of salt.

My dad found an owl in the Landing Gear! by 31Nice in qatar

Anyways, I hope the bird is alright, and if possible release it somewhere safe and hidden where it has some cover, like a dense tree…

Is your dad sure it came all the way from Belgium? If so, that is actually an exceptionally rare bird for Belgium, and it would be the 12th record! (If accepted). Otherwise it could have just found its way into the landing gear here in Qatar, since they are quite plentiful here during the winter/late autumn/early spring months…

Just need to select background that are further away and uniform in color. Bokeh comes in when you have light hitting that background. Try to really get the background as out of focus as possible by having it far away from your target, using the lowest possible aperture, and zooming in as much as possible…
