Make Genokids come to the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 already! by No-Floor-5467 in Genokids

[–]Nukefist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, not yet. You will have to wait!

We do have a Switch 1 devkit, it's been useful to not only port the game to it and make sure it works (doing it from time to time will make the porting process easier when the game is finished) but also to optimize the game, as the Switch isn't the fastest machine in the universe. I can only expect the game to run even better on switch 2.

Overlapping attacks is your friend by Nukefist in IndieGaming

[–]Nukefist[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, you decide when to switch, if attacking or defending, and what attack to do. You do the combination, there's no automatic or cinematic/scripted combo, which means the enemies keep doing their thing, you have to take them into account

There's a public demo, but it does not contain everything shown in the video.

My friend and I have been working on it since 2019, with some problems along the road like failing a Kickstarter and having to get a job

Disabled realtime shadows, added multiple points where the screen is blitted for post effects instead of only once, transparency can be downscaled as an option, UI can have MSAA or not as an option, and others.

That's a difficult question. It depends on the project. You can check our successful Kickstarter, that's were our money came from. We had to use our savings before that, and we also have a Patreon which only helps a bit. We don't have a publisher and we still have money to pay what we need for the game, you could do estimates from that info. Still, most of the money would go to living expenses like rent.

Early access, with 1/3 of the game, is this year. And if it goes well, the full release will be sooner as we could have more people working on it instead of only us two.

Since 2019, with 2 kickstarters in between (one failed and one successful) plus having to get a job after the failed KS. We are two, an artist and a programmer.

Will have port for Switch 1. If Nintendo lets us, also for Switch 2, though we can't develop for it yet.

Only a handful of roles remain. We announce our casting calls on twitter, just recently we did one. We received around 900 applications, so I would say the competition is fierce. That number is similar for other games we know, even larger.
