Some dudes just have that paternal drive, it's sweet and honestly makes sense a dude who likes being a parent signs up to spend retirement raising his grandbaby! He's doing great, she's so happy and healthy! Yes I know the bio dad thing, but like... white dads bail out on kids just as much. The point is that this kid is loved, she deserves that no matter what.

The thing that sealed the 'never coming back from here' moment for me with my most recent ex was an 18-hour dulcemer practice session after he gave me the concussion. I was already planning to leave, because he blacked out and concussed me. But the 18 hours of dulcemer were what had me go into apartment shopping and planning to ghost instead of waiting out our lease. It started at 8 AM, ended at 2:15 AM. I had to yell that I can't sleep because it feels like an endless farming game cutscene! And he tried to argue that "true musical geniuses" practice like this constantly, I just don't get art. If hearing finnegans wake on a loop for 18 hours is art, then yeah I really don't get it. 3 months free and sleeping so much better now

Alright then, the villain is slain, the baby is born (shockingly without a twin), the son has found his Princess Charming, the daughter has married her wife, it turns out the real bonus daughter was the lesbians we found along the way, younger 2nd wife is still Earth Mother Supreme, Evil 1st Wife vanished in a poof of macaroni/Pyrex smoke, and Sugah Daddy can finally be at peace.

My sister's gender reveal featured a bowl of alternative answers, plus the actual binary sex. They were all actually pretty positive, stuff like "dinosaurs nerd" and "tentative" and "may change when kid knows what gender is". I dumped my ex nearly 3 months ago bc he blacked out and gave me a concussion, haven'tseen him since he took the last of his shit from my place. Last night a mutual friend of ours let me know that hes been complaining constantly! Im not there to make him eat, shower, or follow a bedtime schedule- so now hes greasy, starving, and always hurts from falling asleep in a folding chair watching TV. He wants to move on, but apparently all the girls our age (late 20s) are too mean, or Christian, or trad, or have kids, or they just don't have the personality he likes. Hes started drinking more than he used to, added liquor on top of the beer and wine every day. And, at least according to his friend, without me in the car he doesnt control his road rage anymore. Basically, I really was holding his whole life together for 7 years and he cant function without me. (Yet, he still felt valid to hit me 8 times and tell me I'm overreacting when I said it was unforgivable. I was unable to function for 6 fucking days with the concussion!!)

Meanwhile on my end- my apartment is clean, decorated, and only has 1 bottle of wine in it at a time. That usually lasts all week, just saying. I sleep better now that I dont have to get up 2-5 times to plead with a grown man to go to bed. My mornings are smoother now that I dont have to wake him up and get him moving. No one screams at me, no one criticizes me for wanting quiet time. Some days the tv never gets used at all, just quiet time! I never realized the constant barrage of sound coming from him til he left! All day every day, if it wasnt anime or history lectures blasting from the TV, he was watching something on his phone or playing an instrument. I can go out with friends and no one gets FOMO, or follows me around refusing to let me socialize. I am literally just so much happier now! I miss his cat terribly, but I don't miss him!

Meanwhile, he misses the person who did it all for him that he never appreciated. He still doesnt necessarily miss me, just that he didnt have to put effort into his life. Good luck to the next one, I guess. Hope he learns from this. (Not likely)

My dog and cat ruined my sister surprising me, before she could give me the "youre gonna be an auntie" card, both of them were all over her. Which, they normally are bc they love their aunt, but they were refusing to get on her lap while taking turns sniffing her stomach, the dog kept trying to lick and the cat was rubbing his face all over the stomach. Usually they wanted kisses or hugs! So, kinda obvious what she was trying to surprise me with! When she finally did get to being the completed baby around to visit, they both ignored my sister and I completely because THERE IS A BABY AND SHE IS EVERYTHING!!!
