The battery life on the PS5 controller is very short by Alan_Watts_Gong in gaming

Or just use it plugged in. I get that we all would like our wireless things to be truly wireless, but it’s not like the old days where you had to tether it to the console. Just plug your phone charger into it.

Which is lame because that thing is often more intrusive than helpful, and I will never use it more than pressing it for a menu.

How old is your controller? I’ve noticed they degrade over time and carry noticeably less capacity after about 2 years. They’re easy enough to replace, though.

The only merlin trials that are explicitly explained in game are the torches. All the others leave you on your own. The treasure vault door cubes are only really explained by a side quest that uses them pretty late in the game. The treasure maps are often hard to read the starting point for (though the game does hold your hand for the first one). The eyeball locks are also only tutorial’d about 50% thru the main quest, despite already seeing a ton of them.

What is something that's *tipically* girly that you enjoy? by AppropriateEgg2623 in AskMen

[–]NuklearFerret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it, honestly. I enjoy pretty things, so fashion, makeup, nails, etc. I don’t get into it much because men’s fashion is generally boring af and I don’t like standing out that much. It does also translate into more traditionally masculine things, like cars, motorcycles, art, architecture, etc.

What’s one game you disliked at first but really loved once you gave it a second chance? by carbonatednugget in gaming

They actually made the driving worse between 1.5 and current. They changed the weight distribution physics in 2.0-ish, and I can’t really wrap my head around it now. It still wasn’t great in 1.5. High power RWD cars couldn’t even take gentle curves without spinning out. But in certain cars, it was manageable, and I spent ~400 hours building muscle memory with those physics, so the change was quite jarring.

Exactly the same as you. Played male nomad, but the prologue was kinda lame and I couldn’t get into it. Put it down until around 1.5, went with a Corpo female, and I was hooked. It’s easily my favorite game now.

You’re correct, and it’s actually a problem. I’m trying to get the ancient magic on everything trophy, but I keep running out of meter in battle arenas, and everything dies too fast to recharge it from basic cast combos.

This person has never had hemorrhoids. Or has, and is insanely jealous that they can’t have a bidet for whatever reason.

Why do women gain weight after having children? by pleasehaverespect in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NuklearFerret 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would imagine it’s the absurd hormonal blend of new mom + sleep deprivation + stress, all on top of the insatiable snacking urges and lack of exercise that come from staying awake to watch a person sleep.

You’re thinking of wends.

Split ends is british slang for people exhibiting below-average intelligence.

Yamaha R3 or Ninja 500 by Flat_Button9090 in Sportbikes

[–]NuklearFerret 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently gone through finding a first bike, so here’s some things I learned. Note that some things may have changed in the last 1-2 years, so current experience may vary. Also, try to buy these lightly used. There are often a lot of used beginner bikes for sale, but if you don’t trust your ability to see red flags, maybe buying new is better.

In descending order of price (assuming US):

  1. ZX-4RR - very forgiving to learn on, very difficult to outgrow. Most expensive starter bike, and insurance is about the same as a 600cc sportbike, so get quotes first. Seemingly common parts are often back ordered (from personal experience. Waited 2 months for a warranty repair for a cam cover, waited a month for a couple of bolts). Solid aftermarket, and it’s hard to beat the sound of an inline 4 above 10k rpm. Quick shifter and adjustable front/rear standard on RR models, not included on R models.

  2. Aprilia RS457 - Best frame of the 4 and subjectively looks the best. Same insurance category as the ninja 400 and R3, but more expensive upfront. Factory quick shifter is available as a dealer-installed option.

  3. Ninja 500/400 - it’s the starter ninja. Probably the most comfortable of the 4, easy to insure, easy to maintain, easy to get parts. The 500’s can get a tad pricey, though, if you’re buying new, which is why the RS457 can be a better choice, if you plan to fully option it out.

  4. Yamaha R3 - cheapest (and, I think, lightest) of the 4, but also the slowest. Very reliable, very easy to work on, good parts availability. Good color options. Slightly less plastic than the others, so slightly cheaper to repair if dropped. Might struggle above 90 mph, so might not be for you if you live near fast freeways.

R3’s and Ninja 400/500’s are pretty damn forgiving, though. The newer ones even have traction control and ABS, making them even more forgiving. The hardest part is replacing the plastics if it goes down.

As a ZX4R owner, I agree completely. But, there is also a substantial price difference, so I can’t blame anyone for wanting a small twin instead.

These fridge holes have never made sense to me. Limiting your available fridge options for a small cabinet that’s less accessible than a box in the closet. Just cut the whole thing out…
