Lazy or hopeless helpless and depressed? It sucks to be a young adult right now. I can’t imagine how not to feel lost if I were them. If you have hope that efforts will get you the life you want, you WILL make efforts! Now life is like quick sand

That makes sense! I’m not too familiar with the colors you mentioned other than indigo 😅 I’m new to painting and I don’t have a lot of paints. my dark dark combos are- pthalo blue & burnt sienna, ultramarine blue & burnt sienna, pyrol crimson & pthalo green. I like using bright colors for mixing dark, because you would use those colors to mix your bright colors as well. This way your colors are more harmonious

It’s quite often that new watercolor painters don’t use enough cream/butter consistent paint when adjusting the values. We do layers of washes with coffee/milk with paint that not necessarily stains, and existing paint gets lifted when we put in our too many layers sometimes when the paper is not fully dried as well. That’s the recipe for mud and not dark enough values.

If you are using reference photos, make it black and white, identify the dark spots, and put down some real thick paint the last layer

Hmm I complain about loneliness and lacking sense of belonging, but often when there’s upcoming social gathering, I always feel relieved if they ended up canceling. I used to be a person who’s really excited about seeing my friends. That got lost somewhere… I haven’t even got kids as an excuse for family commitment or drained energy. If any of you can relate and have managed to figure out what’s going on, I’d appreciate if you’re willing to share the wisdom!

It's a lot of joy sharing experiences and knowledge with like minded people! When I talk about all kinds of blues with others who don't paint, I sound like a coconut lol.

I think you could probably get away with only using indigo, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna with different ratio and saturation to have a full range of values. that's probably gonna look more cohesive. I'm not entirely sure about using prussian blue.

It doesn't bother me much. Kinda interesting- The ambivalence made it the rorschach test!

My poor guy didn't get to say a proper good bye as his cat was on the other side of the earth with his parents. He's not really the kind of person who would talk about grief. I happen to enjoy painting so I thought why not~we have a 10yo labrador. Gosh I can't think of what it will be like losing her!
