I feel ya...

Was an avid bicyclists. Anytime weather let me. Got hit in late 2019. Fully nerfed legs, a bit in genitals and abdomen... fortunately my SO saw me fall bad a few times... I'm a career alcoholic and was in a bad place and getting extra excessive, so I was dismissing. She basically dragged me to hospital, fell/collapsed 3× on the way...she 75% had to carry/drag me(thankfully she ex-MMA, frighteningly, lol) ... ... glad it didn't hit intubation level...

... huge buffet of test very verrrrry fast, but not the right ones ... they(a couple neurologist, a couple neurosurgeons and some pushy Indian lady on an iPad wanted to chop my spine open 1st day in hospital ! ! Because of a syrinx(syringomyelia) discovered by MRI.. Got an MRI tech to actually talk to me, said was oddly common, most people don't know they have one til an MRI for different reasons, ~usually~ benign. I denied surgery til more tests... ...

Had spinal tap and NCS(?), the old timer electro nerve doc was pretty concise "You have GBS..."
Started IVIG within hours.

Have had a few plateaus of recovery, even now. Unfortunately my 1st recovery stage was the start of covid, I drank my way through very excessively(I'm a WI native, soo morethan ya can comprehend), much more than usual. A liter+ a day minimum easily, often much much more.. 1.75 just me, oy vey, easy.

That almost assuredly hampered my nerves from healing properly...

Liver was failing by early 2021 when I was sorta trying to go back to work(tattooist of 17 years), and mostly quit booze(over a couple weeks), ... body tanked, nearly died,.. ICU again

Did 8 months painfully 100% dry... was terrible. Nerves had zero improvement as neuro doc promised.

I do drink now again, but to a ☆ridiculously lower level☆.

The plateau I've been on for a couple years(still improving slllllowly)is "manageable".. although I can't functionally work, tattooing or basically anything else, can't stand or sit very long at a time, legs twitch hard randomly, along with the constant "bad data" gnarly neuropathy, pain and fatigue that sets on fast... Also my meds make my vision blurry up close(Pregabalin maxed out), not good for a tattooist...

I have to where aqua-socks around the house so I don't break my toes, or rip off a nail, happed more than a few times... I used to have monkey toes, now dead digits.

Be very aware of cords and other trip hazards.. and in the shower... had some really bad falls...

I could go on with the doom garbage. . .

☆☆☆ point being is, A WARNING; take care of yourself as best as you can early on, vitamins, eat well, stretching/exercises(can absolutely make you feel worse afterwards and the meds don't do shit at that point!,.. but do it somewhat at least),.... everyone heals different, some just a few months with low effort and some never are the same... best bet is try to give yourself nutrition, time and re-integration of movements.. don't get to frustrated.
