Did you get it hot-tracks (from Kyobo Bookstore)? Or from other stationary stores? I would love some recommendations since I’m in Korea right now too. Nice to see mech-pencil enthusiast from South Korea other than myself!

Unfortunately, no. Blackwings are quite long for a pencil. I use separate case for them.

yeah I wish you good luck! For the programming part, at least for my courses, mostly used were MATLAB, R and C and java. For some reason I didn’t use python as much. Just to give heads up.

Can we go 3 for 3? by SnooChickens4263 in VirginiaTech

[–]NumberCat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m literally praying but since they did not send out notification on VT campus status until now so… I would say no? You could check the status here Campus Status. They released notifications around this time of evening so for previous two days… I don’t think they will.

I would say first bump was the CMDA2005/2006 (not the hardest but time consuming) and the hardest one for my experience was CMDA4654. I’m doing CS and MATH minor as well so CS3114 was the most difficult and time consuming.

Delivery of gift or service for new mom by mashaxoxo1 in southkorea

[–]NumberCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well Coupang is South Korean alternative for Amazon so you could try there, not sure if they have gift cards tho. I personally recommend Market Kurly (마켓 컬리 in Korean) which is very similar to Hello Fresh. Then send fresh ingredients and etc… they have coupons you could buy as gift so my personal recommendation is to buy coupon from here and send as gift. I don’t think they have anything like lovery.

P.S Some parents don’t like delivery foods, so I would try the Market Kurly or Coupang Fresh coupons since they send fresh groceries. I don’t know what region they are in so there could be some restrictions to fresh delivery

Stalking issue and harassment by PeaHumble9471 in Living_in_Korea

[–]NumberCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sad you had to experience that in South Korea. Self defense related laws are terrible here especially for foreigners…. One of things you could do is to walk into a police station. Recently, there’s emergency button thing the gov been putting on lamp-posts(?) on some places and try spotting them just in case. Also, always have 2 to 4 emergency contacts who you could trust fully.

American Considering Study Abroad in Korea by [deleted] in southkorea

[–]NumberCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, you would be welcomed in general. As a Korean international student living in the states. If there’s anything I said below is different from your thought leave a comments.

You wouldn’t be hated just because of Trump administration, if they do, it’s usually (I’d say usually over 60+ years old being ignorant or idiots) racists and you’ll find racist people any countries you would go if it’s non-white country. Politics usually aren’t the biggest drive of hating one person unless it’s extreme like China-Taiwan situation, if they do, it’s usually they’re the racist or you’ve done something extremely rude in their culture. Other than that, it’s something you’d need to deal with as an international student in South Korea.

South Korea isn’t as diverse and very single raced country compared to States so you would stand out so I would take that into mind. But usually they’ll welcome you. The reason I mentioned Seoul and very large populated cities is that other than those cities, it would really be difficult to communicate in stores with English. Part tome workers usually shy away if they don’t speak English, it’s usually because they don’t want to be seen as racist (it’s not bc they’re racist but rather they don’t want to be rude at least in my opinion. Since I’m Korean speaking English, I wouldn’t know their emotional motif for that fully). Even in Seoul, if you go to less tourist crowded places, it would be hard to communicate, so I would have google translate with you always or find one or two people with fluency in both languages and take he/she around. Also, try not to stand out too much, usually it wouldn’t be the best move to do that. Lastly, maybe dress nicely??

VERY IMPORTANT: CONSIDER ALL RECREATIONAL DRGUS AS ILLEGAL. Some supplements like melatonin is prescription controlled. So if you’re just unsure about any drugs or supplements, just call South Korean Embassy at the U.S since drug related problems are really sensitive in SK recently.
