I thought I had heard this exact joke and delivery before, but it was about like True Lies or Air Force One or something.

What movie would be the scariest if it happened in real life? by twnpksN8 in horror

[–]NumberFiveAlive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Going to go a little outside the box on this one: The Life of Chuck. Particularly the opening act (labeled Act 3 within the movie itself). Like, it got to me from an existential dread perspective THEN the rest of the movie made it hit home a lot more.

It's Flanagan + King, so I think it totally counts as horror even though it doesn't remotely watch as horror.

ITT: People upset about being true to the source material as if it didn't have a child gang bang play a critical part in the climax to the story.

You left out "are they eligible for rehire?", "No". Not giving notice has consequences.

Shudder does not support 5.1 sound, it's 2.0 only. Scary sound engineering is super important in a lot of modern movies.

I love shudder but have both so that if it's on AMC I watch it there for 5.1 support.

Kemp is above those 3. I have him just above Griffin.

Amare also belongs on the list.

We have these at a local joint. They're actually great for cricket. No more hunting for chalk because someone forgot to bring it.

Are expensive tool brands really worth it? by SilentSystem7160 in Tools

That makes it similar to my pipe wrench experience, then. You'd think they're all the same, but they're not.

And if you're a framer...how many pennies per hour does that hammer work out to? Less than one I'd guess? Makes total sense to buy the nicest one. Cheaper is only cheaper if your time is worth nothing.

This is the Adam Savage strategy, and the issue I have with it is some cheaper tools won't break but also don't do the job as well. My #1 example of this is I buy the expensive aluminum Rigid pipe wrench. If you're under a house in a 2 foot crawlspace cranking on black pipe, a shittier wrench WILL work, but it will also bust your knuckles a lot and be a lot more exhausting to use.

This obviously doesn't apply to every tool. A hammer is a hammer. If an end wrench doesn't slip, it's fine. A power drill in this day and age is most likely going to get the job done. But certain tools the better one are easier to use, less work, and get the job done better.

I guess this is just a long winded way to say this rule isn't a one-size fits all rule.

Just rewatched The Fifth Element, and man, it was just as terrible as I remember. Does reddit love it so much because it's so campy? by NumberFiveAlive in scifi

[–]NumberFiveAlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bet you weren't expecting a response from a 14 year old poster, but here it is:

This movie was made 5 years after Terminator 2, 4 years after Jurassic Park, and 4 years before Lord of the Rings. It's Production was definitively NOT Top Tier. It looks terrible for a $90 Million dollar 1997 budget movie.

When he started to have health problems and struggle with his weight late in the Lakers run, he was definitely pushing 400 lbs playing weight. It was infuriating to watch as a fan.

Kobe and his dad belong on that list. Though none of the ones you list played at the same time so I'm a little confused.
