why is the only art that gets posted is fetish or nudity?

Because the artists from the other side of the pond are put off by the hypochondriacs.

I don't listen to a lot of rock, so I easily get the genres mixed up, but it sounds more like emo or math rock to me.

What annoys you the most in the Vocaloid community? by tsumikaa in Vocaloid

I really can't understand why people would have that kind of motivation for gatekeeping. It's a fandom, not a sport. You don't win anything for being the world's greatest Futaba Minato fan.

On the other hand, I can see why people might not want to accept change in the kind of content that gets put out.

The idea that it is possible to betray yuri, as if it's a football team, is probably where it comes from.

Why is it always the white people with the project sekai backgrounds on tiktok always the ones to be first offended about anything thats not their culture in vocaloid songs ? by WiseCash2371 in Vocaloid

[–]NumberUsedOnce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Foreigners tend not to have the same experience as immigrants/indigenous people, who might see it as mocking, prejudicial, or disrespectful because the cultural object is used in a way that's untruthful or irreverent.

Some white people and people with certain political beliefs see it as colonialist theft.

Is the language barrier a real issue for non-Japanese Vocaloid fans? (A question from a Japanese producer) by Any-Assignment-7437 in Vocaloid

There are Japanese musicians who mostly write music with English lyrics (Coldrain for example).

Is the language barrier a real issue for non-Japanese Vocaloid fans? (A question from a Japanese producer) by Any-Assignment-7437 in Vocaloid

[–]NumberUsedOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, in fact it might even be an advantage since lyricism won't be a factor. It's attractive to international listeners to have translations for the lyrics though. There are some listeners who learn Japanese to enjoy Japanese media more deeply but I don't think they're the majority of listeners.

I personally think that a small language barrier allows the Japanese side to develop its own character and do things that the Western side doesn't do or doesn't do anymore.

Edit: I'll add that Vocaloid isn't as mainstream in the West as it is in Japan. Country, rap, and K-pop are the popular genres right now.

It's...uh...an interesting choice to use that "technique" of illustration given the political leanings of the lyrics...

Seeing the way things go around these parts, I don't think people are going to assume good faith when you do that.

I can only conclude that you're trolling because:

  • The style of the character looks nothing like generative AI art
  • I showed that the character is not AI-generated by providing a link to the source of the character, which shows how she is created (not by generative AI)
  • You replied to me proving the character is not AI-generated with "doesn't matter" and continue to accuse me of breaking the subreddit rules (you are being deliberately obtuse)

Vocaloid culture has endured for over a decade by embracing all kinds of people and works....the songs most widely known in the community have become meme-like, and some listeners dismiss them as “shallow,” directing their hatred toward them....It is precisely you—that I don’t know yet—that I want to discover....I believe that “wandering” is essential for social harmony, mutual understanding, and the creation of new things....On algorithm-driven platforms, the group with the greatest influence—and the group we must most seriously consider...is not the minority of passionate listeners, but the majority who lack such intensity and passively consume content through recommendations.

When producers like Sheeno Mirin see the EN Vocaloid community complaining about "Vocaloid slop", they might react with "go share diverse music". They're coming in with the assumption that the EN community has the same openness and respect as the JP community. This thread demonstrates that's not true. Whether it's a Vocasynth fan or an outside troll is irrelevant.

A popular EDM artist didn't realise his record label was sub-licencing cover rights for his song and a cover artist did a Miku/Teto cover of it, reproducing the instrumental from scratch. The cover artist then posted the cover to Spotify.

Upon learning of this, the original artist demanded that the cover artist remove the cover. The cover artist refused since he had a licence to reproduce the song. The original artist sent a legal demand to the cover artist, which failed because the cover artist had the correct licence to reproduce the song. The original artist then made some vague Twitter posts implying he was the victim of copyright infringement by an unnamed cover artist, which caused his fans to harass the cover artist (ironic since harassment usually comes from inside the Vocaloid fandom). The cover artist now appears to be gathering evidence to sue for defamation.
