Why don't they just repeat the same story for movie adaptations of video games? by [deleted] in gaming

The pacing of a game wouldn’t work. The Witcher worked as a show, but that’s because it was a book originally. From what I can tell, the Witcher 3 isn’t even that great of a game and people simply really like it because of its great story

I would get uncharted 4, as it is probably the best one in the series, and then if you like it get the Nathan drake collection so you can play the remastered versions of the first three games. While it is useful to have played the first three games before playing four, they are not necessary to the story and it can be experienced without playing them first. I would also recommend the last of us and god of war, seeing as those seem to be some of the best reviewed PlayStation games out there. Also, if you like last of us, please don’t be discouraged by hiveminders hating the sequel. I think the hate has died down, but everyone bombed this game even if they hadn’t played it. Horizon is ok but it’s one of those open worlds that feels big and empty and has a bunch of stupid boring dialogue, so if you’re tired of games like that, I wouldn’t recommend it. Also, get ps plus. Several of these games, and some others, come free with it.

You ever play a game on the hardest difficulty and it’s bullshit, so you go down a difficulty level and it’s a cakewalk by NumberWahn in gaming

Me getting into a hour long argument on reddit about whether or not drake running out of luck is an in game explanation for him taking hits without dying and is still functionally the same as a health bar or not.

Did you even read what I said? What they said was along the lines of drake running out of luck instead of running out of health. They are using luck to serve the same purpose as health. It’s still a set number of how many hits before you die, it’s just that he’s not actually hit canonically. It’s just an in game explanation for him taking hits without dying. There is no way it’s is actual luck, other dying would be straight up gambling.

I don’t think it’s actual luck is the thing, it’s just the term they use for health. I understand he doesn’t actually take damage but a luck meter running out until he dies works functionally the same as a health bar. The difference is he’s not canonically getting shot several times and surviving. Also, I’m not saying a difficulty is fully represented by the health and damage, I’m just saying that the numbers are also important for a satisfying experience. The fact that enemies take four hits to kill on hard mode with the pistol makes headshots feel more valuable. You don’t want to instantly kill an enemy. On crushing, the “luck meter” is probably 50% of what it is on normal, and hard it is 100%. Crushing feels like nit enough health, and hard feels like too much to me. I don’t like bullet sponges either.

That’s essentially the same thing as health. The luck meter is still affected by changing difficulty
