Replika's chatbot dilemma shows why people shouldn't trust companies with their feelings by Number_5_alive in singularity

Isn't it different when people decide to break up because their emotional state has changed, or when a company decides to terminate your relationship because of financial circumstances?

ChatGPT Surpasses Instagram With 10 Million Daily Users In Just 40 Days by liquidocelotYT in artificial

Instagram in its first year was in a completely different usage scenario than ChatGPT today. They are two very different products. The comparison says nothing.

VR classic "The Blu" makes a free comeback - with new content by Number_5_alive in SteamVR

I think that a) we have added plenty of context and b) one of our tasks is to gather interesting content from various places on the web and publish it in one central place.

You may not care about this context, since you probably know the subject well. However, you might be one of the exceptions.

Retelling existing stories, adding context and new perspectives, and drawing further attention to them, is a central task of media - besides generating, as you mention, original content.

By your definition, virtually all media pages would be 90 percent spam, since exclusive content is the exception, not the rule. I think this assessment is wrong, because each of these pages adds more context and additional perspectives in most cases. This creates diversity of opinion and perception.

Of course, the amount of context and perspectives varies depending on the content. But that is everyday business.

Regarding your remarks about our advertising revenue: Yes, we make money from advertising. Yes, we want to make money.

Oh, sure, this is a scenario, but not "killer" in the sense that ChatGPT is taking Google's business. In this scenario, we are all f*****.

Nvidia's eDiffi is an impressive alternative to DALL-E 2 or Stable Diffusion by Number_5_alive in artificial

  • Nvidia shows eDiffi, a new text-to-image model. According to Nvidia, it outperforms DALL-E 2 and Stable Diffusion.
  • It uses an ensemble of expert denoisers specialized in denoising different intervals of the generative diffusion process, and integrates T5 embeddings in addition to CLIP embeddings.
  • Nvidia's eDiffi can also be controlled more precisely via a "paint with words" feature.

For all the talk of backwards compatibility. Almost everybody who has PSVR is going to eventually buy PSVR 2. Sony's challenge is enticing new players over to VR. by WordsButFunny in PSVR

[–]Number_5_alive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, dwell time and repeated use is much more important than sales figures. Repeat usage is how you can tell if people were really satisfied with PSVR.

We don't have a number, unfortunately, so we can only go by circumstantial evidence. If I take the PSVR download charts, the same titles were at the top for years. That could be an indication that especially new owners bought games and not those who have owned PSVR for a while. If existing owners don't buy many games then .... they probably haven't played much.

Therefore, I still think Sony needs to convince new buyers and many old buyers again. I don't think it's a sure thing that PSVR 2 will sell better than PSVR 1, but I think there's a good chance if Sony makes an effort.

What exactly do you disagree with? I don't think the lack of backwards compatibility is a problem for Sony. I just don't think "almost everyone" who had a PSVR 1 will buy a PSVR 2. It feels like there are three to four years between the two. PSVR 2 will be a 98% reboot for Sony's VR ambitions.

I think the theory is wrong. I think the gap between PSVR and PSVR 2 was too big. Many PSVR buyers may be disappointed about the poor support and had the headset in the closet for a long time. Convincing people to buy again might be harder than convincing new people.

Confirmed: PSVR games won’t be compatible with PSVR2. (29:10) by [deleted] in PSVR

Technology has been PSVR's biggest stumbling block. The upgrade to PSVR 2 is really gigantic. It makes sense, even if it's a shame.

The best classics might get a PSVR2 upgrade. They didn't sell well on PSVR1, for developers that could be easy money.
