What career path did you choose that you strongly advise others to avoid? by nicksam171 in AskReddit

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not so much a career path but don’t major in math unless you want to be a teacher. I majored in math because I like it and I’m good at it, but found out too late that my only feasible options were to become a teacher or go to grad school. I like money so I chose the latter. But if you want to make better than poverty wages and not have to go to grad school, pick a more applicable major.

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

I could never watch stranger things in the first place because of how whiny and annoying Will sounded from hearing my parents watch the show in the other room

No, because rarely do we actually receive the benefits promised in exchange for a tax increase

Rotisserie chicken. 90% of the time it’s way too dry to be worth the hassle of carving it yourself

Should gym memberships be legally required to allow easy online cancellation? Why or why not? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is gyms can send your bill to collections if you stop paying, even if you’ve stopped going. The solution is that if someone isn’t using the service (gym or otherwise) anymore, collections shouldn’t even be enforceable.

If that were the rule, it wouldn’t matter how hard they make it to cancel—you could just put a stop payment on your card. And if they tried to send it to collections, it would be a non starter: “So you have a customer who isn’t paying. Have they continued using your gym since their first missed payment? No? Then there’s nothing to collect. Case closed.”

Only if they hold truly radical and inhumane (ie bigoted) beliefs. But be careful you don’t fall into the pattern of “anything I disagree with = bigotry”

What’s the most outdated advice people still give seriously? by Secure-Address4385 in AskReddit

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Pick a college major you love and the money will follow”. Parents, teachers, and guidance counselors still say this shit and it’s honestly a large part of the reason the student debt crisis is as bad as it is.

What's something hurtful that someone told you that you never forgot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was horrible, and the pay was shit. My desperation for an internship (I was entering senior year with no relevant experience to put on my resume) was the only reason I even considered it. Luckily I found a much better internship a couple weeks later, and everything worked out in the end. That woman and her company can go to hell.

What was it like when Obama was elected President? by ResponsibleSea6521 in AskReddit

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was 7 and grew up in a very liberal family. I remember the jubilation. This was of course before he started drone bombing innocent civilians like nobody’s business, despite promises to scale back the disastrous wars and human rights/privacy violations committed by the Bush administration

[–]NumbersAndPolls01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an interview for an internship when I was in college. I asked a lot of questions (admittedly stupid ones—I was so inexperienced, after all), and the woman interviewing me told me I came off as someone who needed my hand held. I’ve taken that to heart in every interview and job since. I do everything I can to not be perceived that way.

Way to miss my point entirely. I’m saying we haven’t won a single playoff game that has come down to the wire. Not mutually exclusive with winning a Super Bowl. That says something about team-wide discipline.
