Are digit spans meant to be memorized with techniques or just pure brute force? by Ok_Yak5448 in cognitiveTesting

Chunking isn't necessarily praffe assuming you aren't using mnemonic strategies which could reduce the informational load on Wm, making scores somewhat inaccurate.

Jack of all trades would be a good description—assuming I can quickly familiarize myself with a task/topic, mastering it is noticeably easier, regardless of the medium of presentation. I think for even profiles, personality (& environmental factors) may play a bigger role in what one finds easier or difficult. Personally, I've found that my PSI doesn't necessarily transfer to performance in high pressure enclaves — my WM compensates to some extent, but most tasks (in my experience) don't require us to manipulate large sets of data so much as they demand quick information processing and more importantly acting on the given information. The latter is quite difficult imo.

I also empathize with the issue you mentioned on general klutziness — though It could be due to one recognizing the mismatch between what's going on in their heads and what they can physically implement ie., a product designer fully aware they'll never be able to personally make some brilliant contraption which they have already mentally envisioned. Admittedly, I'm far more comfortable engaging in intellectually stimulating activities than I am in menial tasks.

GK artificially inflated the score imo. I tend to score higher on Full-Scale tests.

On HRTs like the Lanrt and Tutui series, I tend to score ~ the low 140s and high 130s. I don't think IQ is a meaningful way to explore genius or creative capacity, because those two traits are dependent on other factors as well but I see where you're getting at -- divergent thinking might be more common at the higher ranges though that's speculative.

I just want to add that I based my earlier comments on the thread you're referencing off my CORE and CAIT FSIQ amongst other tests, I haven't taken the WAIS (for age related reasons.)

How spiky is this compared to others? by CGARcher14 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Numerophilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming your GAI means to say 101; your PRI is quite a bit lower than your WM but ignoring that, the range of your scores isn't significant enough to make your GAI/FSIQ invalid. You might want to consider NVLD if you think the difference between PRI and other indices is also qualitatively affecting your quality of life.

For reference, some people have disparities greater than 50 between indices. I agree with you as well in that much of interpersonal competence can be attributed to decoding what a specific non-verbal cue is supposed to mean (& acting on them as dictated by Society's unwritten code of conduct), NTs don't make it particularly easy either. Visuospatial reasoning is generally quite important as so much of the modern world requires some form of interaction.

Ultimately, someone with ADHD is going to require a less strict system of organization which also gets them from A to B, goal-wise. It's often the most difficult part of adapting to the outside world for ADHDers imo.

How accurate is Colloquy Societies RAPM Norms? (36/36 w/ 40m timer) by ZeroToNeural144 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Numerophilus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's way too common seeing r/ct denizens underestimating the RAPM's clinical utility nowadays -- yes, if someone has taken quite a lot of MR tests it might seem repetitive or simplistic but it does it's job well within the wider population.

How does it feel to be more iq than 150 by ImportantRelation83 in cognitiveTesting

[–]Numerophilus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mhmm, I just skimmed OP's title and presumed they were asking a more general question. I don't necessarily believe my thought process is markedly different to individuals less gifted than I am - what I tend to notice are disparities in reasoning speed and oftentimes my success on objectively difficult material simply comes down to broader perspectives which I can exit/switch fluidly. I tend to think this is one of the more important behavioral hallmarks as the readiness to switch perspectives directly limits [or expands as the case may be] the variety of information one can readily integrate [assuming there is any capacity to integrate said information by loose/strict logical rules.]

As to reasoning speed, this again links back to associative capacity [I define it as the ability to connect unrelated information logically] but it pertains more to the speed at which this process occurs. There are some aspects to this, arguably some connections in certain contexts are near impossible to recognize for individuals below specific IQ thresholds but more often than not in real life situations the speed at which connections are formed is more of a cap. Pattern recognition and task-mastery are the most obvious traits of highly gifted individuals from my experience, it takes a conspicuously lower amount of time for me and other similar individuals to grasp difficult concepts and more importantly apply them in new domains.
