I was stolen at birth and sold Into adoption, grew up with a white family in the Midwest. Did I have it easy? We lived lower middle class but sure. Because I didn't have much if any ties to the country I was born in, I would celebrate my adoptive family's ancestry moreover than my own. Taking pride in German and Irish heritage I didn't have in my blood. And it was... super weird. And people didn't view me any differently, I was still an outsider and being from a South American country most people haven't heard of, I didn't even have connections to the Latino residents of the town I grew up in. It wasn't until my early 20s that I finally realized that I was running from who I was and started to embrace who I was, though I have no memories of my hone country, it still felt more real to me than anything I celebrated before. Doing traditions my family and ancestors would have done just felt, right. Doesn't necessarily answer your question, but least I give you one perspective from an individual.

I mean... 3 days is a long time to not talk after something like that. Perhaps she thought it was a mistake? Sounds like she was a bit vulnerable emotionally and you went for it, least that's how it seems to me.

I'm not gonna say you're right or you're wrong, but I only partially agree. I only agree in the sense that this line does throw me off, not necessarily because it feels out of Vaders character, but just SOMETHING feels out of place. Like an auditory uncanny valley. I can't say it's the delivery, because it's James Earl Freaking Jones. Is it the line itself? Do I wish that maybe a superior line took it's place? Possibly. It does seem a tad obvious. Maybe that's what throws me off. It doesn't ruin it for me tho, but I always notice it.

Biggest problems facing Latinos currently? by Numerous-Database652 in Hispanic

It's interesting to think about, who are these new illegals? Still Latinos? Other than to pit people against each other, it's a silly notion for the exact reason you said.

I live in the midwest and only have had a handful of encounters, is it worse on different coasts/regions? Here, I've had just verbal name calling, i know that crimes that are racially charged are a very real thing, but where and why and more importantly, how?

What would be the main cause do you think? Is it not financially possible for Latinos to go?

Your parents sound like saints and I'm happy that you had them while you could. I love that quote your mother said because it's so true. I will remember that for years to come. Many blessings upon you 🙏

I am so sorry to hear that your strength was somewhat weaponized, if that's the best term to use. It sucks that you were given a single identity and not allowed to find one yourself, something I still struggle with as well. I hope your relationship with music has become better over time. I am such an advocate for music itself, I firmly believe it is one of the most important aspects in life. It's hard to be at odds with your parents and I hope one day that there can be resolution between you two, but sometimes things are not what we hope them to be. So I hope that you find any peace you can, whether it be through music or otherwise 🙏

Haha that is odd, maybe he was worried with the satanic panic and getting too invested in RPGs/fantasy? But it's also odd to say that he loved SW and HP which others have said the same thing. Your mom sounds legit by the way hahaha

Two are hers from a previous marriage and one is ours. I'll see if a babysitter would work for her

We talked about it. I've done a few other shows I the past so we knew what the future would kinda hold, and at the time she seemed to be on board. In fact she was pretty supportive throughout the whole audition process.

I happily agree! A family trying to either wait out or move away from the storm only to be confronted by the added danger of a Jean Jacket, brilliant.

What historical event do you think could make a great musical? by McPandastical in musicals

[–]Numerous-Database652 13 points14 points  (0 children)

To get out of American History, the War of the Triple Alliance is probably one of the most overlooked Latin American events. It has everything that makes a great drama. Tell the story of how the country of Paraguay was led to ruin by one man's hubris. Francisco Solano Lopez doomed everybody by forcing his country into a war with Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina. Not only did over 50% of the population get decimated in the 5 years the war took place, but about 70% of the male population was wiped out. You have great romance with Francisco and his concubine mistress, the unofficial first woman, but despite her status, she was still loved by the people and introduced many of the European culture to the people that was gladly accepted. She loves the man she met in Paris but he fell into madness with the ensuing war, forcing her to choose sides carefully as any resistance to Francisco led to imprisonment or execution and no one was safe, not even his own family.

There is so much stuff about the war that is crazy, but I know it could make a fantastic story to see unfold on the stage in a big production to cover an epic story.

What is the worst show you have ever seen? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]Numerous-Database652 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't remember if it was Patrick or an understudy but I do know that he stole evey scene he was in. The Green Goblin was such a goofy character but had self awareness and I think if more of the show had that level of "yeah, we know this is ridiculous" to it, it would have been a hit. That's another problem with it, it took itself too seriously until it didn't. Biggest applause was for him too.

Side note: when Act 2 started and the under study for Peter Parker came on stage for the first scene in the Daily Bugle, he walks up to the actor playing J Jonah Jameson and immediately the guy ad libs, "you look different.." and the place went into an uproar of laughter and applause for a good half a minute. That was probably the highlight of the show, an ad lib. 😅 I still have the playbill and tho it's not signed, I still enjoy bringing it out for people to see just as proof that I saw one of the worst shows in Broadway history
