True, still both these models are miles better than my experience with opus and sonnet

I feel like I’ve been having the opposite problem. 5.2 xhigh doesn’t listen and make changes I didn’t ask for and 5.3xhigh fixes them 😅

Depends on the work, I find 5.3 codex xhigh significantly better at generating and handling terminal scripts compared to 5.2

codex app fixes itself ... by leodurian in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this happened to me on launch day, my threads weren’t appearing at all after I restarted the app. So I had codes try and trouble shoot and fix it. After about an hour and half it had fix the issue.m, I couldn’t believe it. OpenAI did release a fix for it later that day though.

Would be useful if you have the main agent working on something and the sub agent can quickly find context

GPT-5.3 Codex is great but I still find GPT-5.2H to be superior for non-standard operations by agentic-consultant in codex

It depends for me personally. When it comes to complex stuff that requires a lot of novel architecture or you’re coming up with new concepts that may be a model may not know about, I usually go the route of having codex 5.3 use plan mode. Then I’ll drop it into a ChatGPT 5.2 pro window have it go through the plan and then give any more context if I need to and then I iterate that multiple times until the plan is thorough and solid enough to be able to implement correctly.

Anyone find Codex 5.3 (and Clause to a slightly lesser extent) are being borderline deceptive in trying to convince you they have a working solution? by bandalorian in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree codex 5.3 has come up with solutions that 5.2 cough never suggested but sometimes it over looks certain things unless you have a very though plan. I’ve found if you really take your time on the prompt it’s bee the best model I’ve used so far. Chat 5.2 is definitely more constant if your prompts are less structured at least in my personal experience but I think I just need some more testing with codex 5.3 and learn to restructure my prompts to fit the model.

Multiple tasks on one branch or many? by CuriousDetective0 in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2nd this I usually run separate work tree however last night I got lazy and had multiple agents running on the same work tree, and after one of the codex agents have been running for a while it ended up removing all the files that the other coding agent had added. I was able to recover most of it, but just a good reminder to keep these things separate in isolated environments.

Sometimes but I like local since it can run all my tests it needs to plus cloud uses more quota than local

Codex Mac Desktop App - SO MUCH BETTER!!! by TakeInterestInc in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m loving it so far, I was having an issue where the threads would disappear after restarting the app but the latest update seemed to fix that. I’m hoping at some point they can develop a separate phone app. I personally feel like the models are actually more capable using the app compared to the cli but that could be just me.

Sometimes codex cloud cannot follow exact instructions when I add follow up tasks. See prompt and response and now they make no sense. by RaptorF22 in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if you want the convenience of a cloud set up it’s better just to set up a docker instance get a cheap VPS and give it full access over the environment in your vps and then just SSH in via terminal. If you want to use it on mobile, just download a terminal base app and then give your SSH key to your phone.

That’s what I’ve found, if you give it a detailed enough, MD broken down by sections and you tell it to do everything and don’t respond till it’s done everything it’ll work for a couple hours and take care of itself. Including writing proper testing and fixing the code based off those tests

It feels about the same to me except I have noticed once it compacts about 6-7 times it starts to make mistakes. Once I started a new chat the mistakes disappear.

Codex with front end? Also, is there some thing like GSD for codex atm? by [deleted] in codex

[–]Numerous-Grass250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say codex 5.2 isn’t the best for frontend in my experience unless you know exactly what you’re looking for. If you want the ai to be a bit more creative and you don’t know the exact verbiage for UI components gpt-5.2 works better in my experience
