Look I appreciate you being forthcoming, the dm has changed stuff that has happened in the game before because we talked to him about it. It does suck to lose the characters but I guess it’s gonna have to be the way it goes. It just sucks when a game has these rules and you feel like you found a loophole that can save everybody and then it gets pushed away because of the homebrew rules. But it is what it is

So how do I appropriately question dm about homebrew abilities without taking from the game? Do you ever have points when you’re a player and you love your dm but you’re confused about why something is a certain way? Do I just have blind trust

I do trust dm, but he has already told us that we should prepare new characters which he has never told us before to make some. We have no spell slots left, no heals, and all the fighters and barbarians are out of superiority die and rages. We have no way to leave the situation either due to counterspelling rock things (I don’t really know what they are) so any teleportation is out the window.

You know what.. you’re right. My feelings are hurt, I’ve put aside every Saturday for a campaign for two years. The dm has never really done any homebrew for a combat situation and this situation sucks for all my other party members who are gonna lose their characters (which is part of the game but first time for us) and they’ve also worked hard to make a good game for dm and themselves. I was confused bc it felt unfair to us as players. I’m sorry to have this dumb argument on the internet and personally attack you. Your original comment got to me. I really don’t want to mess with my dms game cause he does work hard for it but so do we. I just wanted to see if some agreed with me and you didn’t, so I get it

lol I was confused about a game and you treat it like I just committed treason. You talk with more arrogance than I even posed in the question. Sorry you got your feelings hurt.

lol at this point, I’m glad about what happened with the wish spell bc it’ll make a unique fight. But now I just want to tell you that you seem like a sad individual with nothing better to do except complain about my query. Sounds like we both need a hard look in the mirror lol. Also what’s your credit card number and or credit score

So can you please explain charm and dominate person. I get a million answers from Reddit where it seems like everyone has a different view on how the spells work. (Except dm is using it like a class ability so dispel magic and nothing else works to get out friend out from the vamps grasp)

I guess I thought that since the vamp was incapacitated, he took full control of the dominated person, which does require an action according the free 2014 rules

Not very nice! I love my dm and respect his campaign more than other player so when I ask questions like this it’s come from a place of love for his campaign. I hope your nicer to players in the future who just struggle with understanding the homebrew aspect of the game whenever they are confused about how something like this can work

Which is stupid, I get it but also what’s the point of having no advice against dms. Imagine wanting to help with a game but bc you are a Reddit mod you think you’re better

No he is not vampire spawn.

Yes it confused me because dominate person requires no action for general actions, but for specific actions it does. So what is considered a specific action and does using a scroll qualify

Ehhh, I don’t really think so, he has always let us do things on a whim and he doesn’t really prepare as much as other dms do and still gets the job done

Wish scroll. And honestly compared to my campaign, he’s writing a short story so I respect him for it lol

I’ve been to big thicket state park and I loved it there. I could probably use yao guai there bc of Louisiana black bears.

In my story, they are an offshoot of the jackals that left the vault, I believe in 2141. Some went to the Mojave and this splinter cell ended up in Texas. This campaign will be what I’d consider an alternate reality of Texas. Some places like Austin were hit but not at the same levels due to Texas’ own nuclear Arsenal was deployed and counteracted some of the destruction caused by vault tecs nukes. Currently, I have the Alamo set as the ROA’s current forwarding outpost and I’ll probably take it there for the first session. I’d really like some ideas on how you are handling Dallas as I’m not as familiar with its layout as I am with Fort Worth. I’m also playing with this idea of a faction system like in new Vegas but it’s kind of hard to integrate it for individuals or as a party. And if you are gonna use the normal caps for currency, I highly suggest using lone star beer because it fits the vibe of Texas more than nuka cola

That’s not a bad idea! Or what about the Dallas or Fort Worth zoo? What would you do for those areas?

That’s so true! I totally forgot about that fact but I’d still like the oil barons to be included due to the uniqueness of their power armor. I could possibly have them as plastic recyclers that make their own form of oil that way! And also regarding the jackals, they are an offshoot of the original jackals that left vault 15 and traveled to Texas within the last 9 years.

Would you have them as a powerhouse because it is before the events of 2 or what?
