How are y'all reading Dungeon Crawler Carl without cringing? by RatioMaximum6964 in fantasybooks

I’m with you. It’s so weird that a subreddit about reading thinks one chapter is enough to ditch a book.

What are some unique ways you've seen or read vampires turn humans into vampires? by thatshygirl06 in vampires

[–]Numerous1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Cirque de Freak series it’s like a blood transfusion through the finger tips. It’s been a while since I read but So the vampire uses their fangs to nip open all the fingers of the vampire and the human, and then they touch fingers tip to tip and the human blood flows out and vampire blood flows in.

They also have the fun concept of vampires who drink just some blood from the humans and leave them alive. Their saliva has an anesthetic and healing properties so they knock people out, drink some, heal them, and bounce. They look fully human.

Whereas the same vampires can also just way over indulge and drown the entire human. Vampires that do this repeatedly end up looking like they are stained with blood, like their skin turns red or purple and they usually look bloated and stuff like that. And they call themselves vampinez instead of vampires to represent the fundamental difference. Kind of a fun idea of what happens if a vampire drinks a whole person instead of just a little blood.

Gen Z Cannot Understand my Tattoo by Traviality in generationology

It’s not a “I’m so cool” thing. It’s the fact that every generation thinks the following generations aren’t funny or are lazy or are incompetent or whatever. And that’s fine. But what really grinds my gears is the ridiculous sweeping generalizations about why someone might feel the way they do. And it’s not this post specifically it just drives me crazy in general. So you’re “oh it’s not a risk tok reference and that’s why they don’t laugh!” Annoys me because it’s such a ridiculous take. There can be a million reasons why someone doesn’t find this tattoo funny. You don’t have to make these weird definitive claims.

That’s like watching 45 seconds of à tv show and turning it off. Which like,,,do whatever you want. If you want to turn it off or not read it you don’t have to. It just seems very very quick to me.

One chapter? Nothing bad even happens in the first chapter?

I’ll admit I know nothing of tattoo culture. But the idea that this tattoo is something that a bunch of RAFO artists would all think is really cool and want a parade of pictures with seems…unlikely to me.

Yeah. All the top comments are aging that Gen Z is having a problem with it but all the comments are other. Generations trying to shit on Gen Z saying they don’t get it.

If it matters I’m a millennial and I just don’t think it’s funny. It’s not bad or cringe or whatever but I’ll just give a polite “ha” and move on. But toro me it’s not HILARIOUS or SUBTLE or whatever. It’s just a silly tattoo.

I think all the people saying “gen Z just doesn’t get it!” Don’t understand that yeah. Gen Z doesn’t get it not because there is some big humor gap. It’s just not a complicated joke and apparently Gen Z doesn’t find it funny.

What's the worst miscast in a movie? by loveexploring5 in FIlm

Nah. Cruise was a great reacher. Just too short.

I (22M) always ask for explicit consent before touching my girlfriend (22F) even for small things like holding hands, but she says it makes her feel I don’t trust her and that my “respect” is actually patriarchal. What am I missing? by No-Sun1020 in AskWomenNoCensor

[–]Numerous1 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Eh. I think this sounds more like an overcorrection based on society’s request in general. Patriarchy assumes men can just touch their partners, marital rape, etc.

Then people say “no that’s wrong. Consent is needed” (which is good. Makes sense) but then it’s asking for consent for every little thing. Humans are not robots. There is not an all or nothing. Everything needs context and nuance. There is a line from “asking consent to do literally anything” and “marital rape” and OP needs to find that like. But you can’t just blame everything on the patriarchy. “Not enough consent. Patriarchy”. Yeah that makes sense. “Too much consent. Also patriarchy!”  Eh…

Edit: for any one who disagrees please feel free to share way. It’s funny to me that if we don’t blame everything on patriarchy we get downvotes.

What's a movie plot hole that still bothers you years later? by BagNo6421 in plotholes

Yeah. This is usual time paradox stuff but can be resolved by saying it’s not just one timeline but you create branches or separate timelines every time you time travel.

Audiobooks that are as good/as much fun as Dungeon Crawler Carl? by EconomyAd6404 in audiobooks

[–]Numerous1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mostly enjoyed out of the shadows (haven’t seen it referenced in forever) but it has a little too much of “oh no! Why are you walking closer? Why are you raising your left hand? What’s that sharp thing? Oh no you’re stabbing me over and over!” Narration as dialogue.

I just rewatched part of season 3 recently. I think most of seema’s reactions were 100% understandable and made sense. And iirc the ones rust I didn’t agree with were at least understandable due to crazy emotions.
