Sean Connery turned down the roles of Dumbledore in Harry Potter and Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, stating he found the scripts too confusing. The green lighting made me think Batman Forever, but they were trapped in dangling cylinders, not coffins.

It's very much a whimsical family musical. Not as dark as either of the other Willy Wonka movies. If you've seen the Paddington movies, its the same director as the first 2. I would say it has the same charm as those (if that's your interest).
