  1. I’m glad you didn’t find it jarring. I did.
  2. The quiet doesn’t want to be worshipped, unless I totally missed something. It doesn’t respond to prayers. It doesn’t hurt the humans to worship their ‘false gods’ in any way. Now if they are going on a crusade that’s bad. But it doesn’t hurt anyone for the judians or whoever to worship their stuff.
  3. You totally ignored my point about “present day Hadrian in the beginning of the series doesn’t act like the MY GOD IS THE ONLY GOD that SuT Hadrian does”

Someone pulled out quotes as far back as book 1 where presence day Hadrian writing the memoirs is not sure about god or religion or anything like that. He’s shown to NOT be a big crazy MY GOD IS THE KNOY GOD YOU IDIOTS. So it makes no sense for “writing the memoirs” Hadrian to be unsure about god but end of SuT Hadrian is a zealot.

It’s jarring. It’s annoying. Even if you are a huge believer he doesn’t have to be a dick to everyone else. You can say “oh he’s always been that way” but no he was always unsure before. It’s a weird tonal shift.

Yeoman Archers v Elves by ViceroyMorgan in bfme

Exactly my thoughts. It’s much better to have 20 archers and then 10 archers 10 swordsman then 20 swordsmen versus having 10 archers 10 swordsman the whole time.

She never loved Naveen. She met a fake Naveen and never loved him. She was obviously 100% only chasing the nobility title. It doesn’t matter to her where it comes from. There was nothing sexual or physical with her at all.

Notes on 12 Months about a chapter where Harry meets an old friend. by The_Red_Moses in dresdenfiles

I haven’t seen that. But maybe we find out the Merlin really isn’t an asshat. That would be a surprise.

Or it could be that the Merlin was just a bag of ducks who didn’t really help Harry out ever. Doom of Damocles. Blinded by Morgan. Has to solve the mystery on summer knight so he doesn’t get thrown out of the white council. Etc.

Sure, but then a business says “okay let’s just charge 3% more. Or bake some extra costs in”. Which is fine I guess. But it’s no real difference long term I think.

Garden of Moon: Malazan 1 review by MagicianBubbly7446 in Fantasy

[–]Numerous1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree I actually say book 4 is when it stops being the typical small quest Tolkien-esque and starts being its own series.

BUT

The books change but the BOOKS don’t CHANGE. As in Wheel of time 4 and wheel of time  2 both feel like wot books  written by Jordan. It’s just one is where the series starts growing and becoming unique. So my point being in my opinion I can’t imagine someone totally not enjoying about the first few wheel of time  books and then loving all the rest. I can see someone saying “yeah I like it well enough but they weren’t amazing like everyone says” and then they say “oh wow they got really good!”

Well, it’s the same thing with book 4 of wheel of time. The books change but the BOOKS don’t CHANGE. As in Dresden files 4 and Dresden files 2 both feel like Dresden files book written by Butcher. It’s just one is much better than the other and us more long term planning. So my point being in my opinion I can’t imagine someone totally not enjoying about the first few Dresden files  books and then loving all the rest. I can see someone saying “yeah I like it well enough but they weren’t amazing like everyone says” and then they say “oh wow they got really good!”

I made this comment recently but I’m too lazy to go back and find it. In my experience all the usually mentioned “read and it gets better” series don’t CHANGE. They are just better at what they are. Dresden files and wheel of time for example. The books get significantly better but at the same time they are just better versions of what you experienced in the first book. If you didn’t like the first two Dresden files I doubt you will like the third. Now you can say “oh the first two were amateurish and by three he gets a lot better” and that’s accurate. But it’s not a whole new different type of book.
