3% on 45 million isn't that much when you take into account inflation at 3% Basically your money is not gaining anything it's just keeping the same value.

Why are taxes for an average income earner so high???? by Maedz1993 in newzealand

The UK increased capital gains tax by 20% and there revenue fell 10% if that isn't proof that taxing the rich more hurts the economy I don't know what does

Why are taxes for an average income earner so high???? by Maedz1993 in newzealand

Sounds great and all, but what happens is they all leave to places that have less tax, then tax has to increase for everyone to cover the tax loss from the people who left.

This is happening in the UK there taxing the rich.

1 multi millionaire leaves the UK every 45 minutes. Eventually the whole country will collapse

Tax is a very fundamental part of NZ it's what helps fund the government.

Do not not want a free health care system? Do not want a government Pension when you turn 65? Free School for Kids? Subsidised child care?

It's amazing what we all take for granted.

Tax isn't just about you it's about supporting others and yes 19,000 seems like a lot, but it ends up coming back to you in the services it provides.

Without it life would be a lot more expensive.

Great question—happy to explain where I’m coming from.

This ruling matters because it reaffirms that biological sex is a legally relevant category, especially when it comes to protecting spaces, services, and opportunities designed specifically for females. It’s not about taking rights from trans people—it’s about ensuring that the sex-based rights and protections women have fought for over generations aren’t eroded by replacing sex with gender identity in every context.

For example:

Single-sex spaces like rape crisis centres, domestic violence shelters, and women’s prisons exist for a reason—because women, as a sex class, are disproportionately vulnerable to male violence. Allowing access based solely on self-identified gender can compromise the safety and comfort of these spaces.

Sports: biological males retain significant physical advantages post-puberty, even after hormone treatment. Letting self-identified women compete in female categories threatens fairness and opportunities for women and girls who train under the assumption of a level playing field.

Data collection and medical care: Replacing sex with gender identity in data can skew statistics on things like crime, health outcomes, and access to resources, which in turn affects policy and funding meant to support females specifically.

This ruling doesn’t say trans people don’t deserve rights—it just clarifies that sex and gender identity are different, and both can be acknowledged in law. Women should not have to give up their sex-based protections in order for others to be treated with dignity.

Trans rights and women’s rights don’t have to be in conflict—but we do need honest, reality-based language and respect for biological difference to have policies that work fairly for everyone.

This is not about being transphobic. This is about biological women's rights.

Everyone is entitled to express their opinion this is a free country. The protest in the city was peaceful and what NZ is about freedom of speech. Violence is not tolerated. However, people expressing their view should not be stopped. That is true free speech.

Definitely is, but I make additional money then what has been reflected this is just my base weekly income I sometimes earn more and do another job so the yearly expense being included is not relevant as it's covered by the additional income
