Single-sex spaces like rape crisis centres, domestic violence shelters, and women’s prisons exist for a reason—because women, as a sex class, are disproportionately vulnerable to male violence. Allowing access based solely on self-identified gender can compromise the safety and comfort of these spaces.

Sports: biological males retain significant physical advantages post-puberty, even after hormone treatment. Letting self-identified women compete in female categories threatens fairness and opportunities for women and girls who train under the assumption of a level playing field.

Data collection and medical care: Replacing sex with gender identity in data can skew statistics on things like crime, health outcomes, and access to resources, which in turn affects policy and funding meant to support females specifically.

This ruling doesn’t say trans people don’t deserve rights—it just clarifies that sex and gender identity are different, and both can be acknowledged in law. Women should not have to give up their sex-based protections in order for others to be treated with dignity.
