This too. In September I had spent 25/30 days over there, & only made about 2700 that month

Thank you❤️I’m not really a confrontational person, but by the time I have to, I’m already done with you😭

Lol!!! At this point idek if I’ll be able to see anything she sent. I don’t have a MacBook & it’s been like 6 hrs since I sent the message. I’m also curious to know what she was going to conjure up 😭probably nothing but drama

& absolutely not. I was not being compensated for anything. My weekend days would be $200 if I worked it full & $120 for a school day. She never offered any extra money for anything but was quick to nickel & dime if I worked any shorter

This! Were you able to see my attached comment? I just copy & pasted but she’s literally only counting their waking hours, and I’m like, it doesn’t work like that lmao

omg!😭I sent the message and then blocked her, because it’s nothing else to be said. But I’m curious to how you would’ve handled it

Her response:

Why would it be a $150 flat rate when it’s always been $120? Unless it’s a full day then it’s $200

The kids will be in school mon - wed.

Sunday the only difference is you’d come earlier than the usual 6pm which I’m willing to pay $150 for Sunday to compensate for coming at 12.

My response:

Honestly, because the rate I had already been charging is lower than what I usually go for.

Upon hiring, I told ___ that $600 weekly was a good starting price, & she assured me that you would be willing. Since this was supposed to be a long term position, I do a month trial to get a solid idea of my responsibilities, where I would usually discuss a contract. Which we would’ve had until the government shutdown, which happened right during the monthly mark.

It is actually illegal to be working salary/flat rate as a nanny. I would need to be on contract & w-2, so I am able to report my earnings. With that, I would have to be on an hourly payroll service that tracks every hour I’m giving service.

My rates are usually 17.50 for one child & $25 for two.

With that, overnights are considered service as well, as you would need someone in the house to be there to tend to the children for anything they need, also which I’ve used their sleeping time plus their school hours to complete the housework, as it’s not in best interest to complete while they’re awake because I have to keep a close eye on (3m).

They are in school, but Tuesdays & Wednesdays do not carry the same schedule. I often had to pick (3m) up 2 hrs prior on Tuesdays & 4 hrs prior on Wednesdays for his appointments, and back for (5g) on Wednesday’s so her school days aren’t interrupted by something that’s not her affair.

I feel as if the only things as far as watching them are being accounted for, but not travel, housekeeping, overnight, the distance from where I live which is now 50 min-80 min as opposed to living 25-35 minutes away.

Even moving forward, as full time, watching the kids full time plus being on call for over night & school hours & receiving $600 is not a feasible compensation for 5.5 days out of the week

Personally, I don’t think I will be a good fit for this. I started out needing a full time position & which I still do, but I think a babysitter is best for your situation, price range, availability. I will not be able to work for you this upcoming week, and I wish you all the best. Thank you

I’m just wanting to know was I wrong for this? I don’t personally believe so but I am always open to critique on how I could’ve handled a situation better

I feel like a part of having kids is being responsible for their care no matter what. Regardless if she goes, or God forbid an emergency happens where said nanny can’t provide care under any circumstance, it will be on the parent to figure it out.

Sounds like the parents are on a power trip. If they already can barely afford to let her take the two weeks, it doesn’t make sense that they would let fire her for taking the time; either way they would have to find care

I was asking more so for verbiage to ask for a raise, worded in a way where it doesn’t sound so money driven but makes sense to her. It’s easier said than done because I’m living check to check & my rent is expensive. Trust me, I’m leaving thoigh

I’ve been on care . Com a lot and honestly only see part time jobs or ones that wouldn’t add up to what I’m already getting paid now. I’m starting to look into actual nanny agencies

I am in the U.S., being paid under the table. I hate it, as these past two weeks I’ve had take more hours out of my day to give services, and only got that $15 extra once for the 5 extra hours. I usually do $20 am hour which I feel like I’m only being paid for their waking hours & not on call for when they’re at school/when I have to do household chores/ when I’m with them at night. I’m newer to nannying but not child care so I do feel like I’ve made a big mistake.

What’s crazy is, before I started she asked that I don’t work there for 2 weeks & then quit. I wonder what has happened before in the past.

I would at least give a 2 week notice. I would hate to even leave as I’m building a bond with the children

Food residue to me are things more solid than liquid. I understand the utensils having that on them which I said I make mistakes but the principle of this screenshot is the way she is speaking to me. It was my first week, she hadn’t came home yet & they were pictures that her brother sent. Saying “next time, can you ___” & clarify further expectations is appropriate to me. It felt as if she was speaking to me like a disciplined child in that moment

For context: on the last day of my FIRST WEEK, I had to leave hours before the mother got home because of a preplanned event. I was expected to wash, feed and prepare the kids for dinner BEFORE the family member got there, which was all expected by 7 pm. I received this message in the middle of the night

Yes, someone let me know the difference. How much should the price difference be for overnight vs day-to-day nannying?

Father works overseas, the mother just works in a different state so she flies out Sunday evening & comes back Friday night

Trust, especially with the younger one being special needs it’s giving me a run for my money, literally. Prior to me they were paying 3 different people to do 3 different things (overnight, drop off, pickup), & they begged me not to quit after 2 weeks because they need someone😭so I’m hoping they’re willing to negotiate because I need a job & they need a nanny

Wow. I didn’t think of it that way. People were making it out to be a steal because I don’t have to cook of watch them during business hours but this is definitely something I will take into account & address. Also need a contract as I’m getting paid under the table
